Hello, AJ Friends,

I have just received an email from Harriet, sent to both her family and friends, on the result of her visit with the specialist about her shoulder MRI. She needs all our prayers as she face a surgical proedure to repair a torn rotator cuff tendon from the injury she suffered last April on her shoulder. Here's what she wrote:

I sustained a shoulder injury in April & the doctor tried Physical Therapy for several weeks then it was worse. So I just had an MRI last week & took it in to the shoulder specialist today. He said I have a torn rotator cuff tendon & I would have to have surgery. He can't fix it with an arthroscope- he wil have to make an incision. There is a long recovery process of 8-12 months. It will be outpatient surgery. They won't schedule the surgery until they see an EKG so will take care of that.

I ask for thoughts & prayers from all of you. I'm sure I will be fine in the long run but I have to have this done because the present situation can't go on.
Love to All,
Harriet

Harriet, you are and have been in my thoughts and prayers. Hope everything goes well with your surgery and you have a much quicker recovery than given. You're a retired nurse so you would already know that recovery and rehab are far worse than the surgery itself. Please be rest assured that you have all of our prayers and emotional support and that we'll be here for you all the way. Take care and BIG HUGS.

BHR

Harriet, I am so sorry you have to go through this.  At least you have an answer now and
can deal with it.  You have been suffering for too long.  As always, you are in my prayers
for a successful surgery and fast recovery.

Harriet,

Keep the Faith hon..I'm so sorry they didn't do an MRI in the beginning and all the time you were in therapy, you could have had it done and be healing.. Hon do not worry about them doing an EKG first before the surgery.. They did one on my husband before his last test. It's just to be sure.I know you feel like it's never ending but it will. I know you are a believer and that helps so much. I know you will miss going to Alan's concerts..But it's strange that this happened w/your sliding on wet grass, going to see him..I haven't seen him recently either w/my husband having so many tests, and all this after Mom died..
You have a postive way of looking at this surgery and that is good. You keep being strong and when you have surgery you will be fine. you can know that all of us here, will be thinking of you and praying for you too.All AJ Fans who love you!
My sister hurt her collar bone and it took a while to heal and now she is going on vacations to Maine and all over. she called me last night and said they were on their way home(FL) but they will go back to Maine every Summer, as long as possible..She said it's 65 degrees now and they feel wonderful to get up each day, rheumatism wasn't a problem at all there..
So when you have your surgery and through recovery, you can go on a vacation and just enjoy getting out..
I have fallen a lot and I want to be more careful now, but it happens to anyone, at any age..
We will keep you in our Prayers during surgery and always.. Hugs to you , Jerrie-FL
PS-Harriet, the new method of being put to sleep is so much better now and doesn't make you sick, like in the old days did.
Love to You and Prayers.

UPDATE: I just received another email from Harriet. Her surgery has been scheduled for the 14th of September. Keep all the prayers going. Harriet, praying for your surgery to go smoothly and the recovery swift and not too unbearably painful. Email me any post surgical updates and I'll post them here for you. Be thinking of you always.

BIG HUGS,

Harriet, prayers & thoughts are with you for your surgery and the rehab.   Hoping everything goes smoothly and as pain-free as possible.  I see a big dose of AJ music coming through those earphones during your rehab exercises.  Hugs!

My thoughts and prayers are with you Harriet.  I had this surgery 15 years ago after a fall at work.  Everything is still good with my shoulder, just be sure and follow the doctor's directions after the surgery and do the PT after to gain full range motion.  Sheila also needs this surgery, but without medical insurance she will have to wait.
