Elaine - we were supposed to get a dusting but it has been softly snowing all day so thinking we will do some shoveling tonight. It's fluffy and there really isn't much to do - my son's front walk and up to the house and our front and driveway but my husband cheats and uses a snow blower so it doesn't leave too much for me to do.  I do like to keep the deck and steps clean - my  newfie is getting old and he is leary of slippery stuff this year - the other two part newfies are the same age but don't seem so botheerd - kind of scares me that I am getting to the end of the road with my big boy.  Wish my son would rent his house - he is in AZ and we shovel- LOL

Happy New Year to all my AJ friends.  How exciting Sue....feel like we are in a mile high club......I dunno.    It was cute.....anyway I am glad Christmas is over and am trying to get back to some normality.....whatever that is HA!!!!  Everyone stay warm and in about three short months we in the cold should start to warm up.  I know I'll be warmed up real good on Feb 2 (that is if I make it throught the two hour plus drive to see Alan in the 2nd row..........in our Canadian cold and snowy winter!!!  Take care all!

January nice that your hubby can snow blow
sure beats shoveling. In my last place our drive way
was so long that we could have never shoveled it
all so we had a snow blower.
Gwen I pray the weather will be good for Alan's
concert in Feb.
It is cloudy and calling for rain this morning.
+5 so sure not complaining.

Hello AJ Friends. Oh how the weather has changed here. We are getting a major snowstorm Sunday night to Monday night. In the Atlanta area they predict 4-6 inches of snow & in far North GA maybe a foot of snow. They are also saying at some point it will change over to freezing rain & ice up everything. There will be major problems driving & I'm sure schools will close. Hubby & I are stocking up & staying home.
I went on my first major shopping trip with hubby since I've had my surgeries & I must admit it was a little too much for me. We went to Office Depot, Costco & The Mall. Costco was extremely crowded & the Mall was not crowded at all. But I came home really bushed & went to sleep. We just went too many places.

January- Agree with you that the snow is pretty but I'm sure glad I don't have to go anywhere Monday. I have physical therapy Tuesday but doubt that they will even be open.

JeanB-Glad your airports are working again. I have heard that the flu is widespread in the UK & might spread into Europe. Have you & your family gotten flu shots yet?

Gwen- We too are settling back to normal after Christmas & New Years.

Elaine- Sounds like you are snowbound. We're going to find out what that is like.

Kathy- I just finished reading Loretta Lynn's Coal Miner's Daughter & Still Woman Enough- great books & hard to put down.

Hello to Anita, Sherry,Brenda, Nelle, BHR, Jeri,Terry, Sharon & Jean- AZ. And all the rest of Alan's great fans.

Harriet, sorry to hear about all the snow you expect.  Best thing is to just stay in - glad you stocked up and are ready for the ride.  We've had a few dustings of snow, but now much at all.  It's way too cold for much snow.  The sun is out today, but the high is supposed to be only 20degF.  I'm staying inside - cleaned a closet this morning (how much stuff can one person accumulate?).

Stay warm and safe everyone!

Hello to all of you Fans!

we have been so busy having family over to eat etc.. I haven't posted much recently. I was just talking to my Sister and she said her daughter in GA is getting stocked up for cold weather soon. Harriet, I thought of you hon.. So glad you got out to shop, you probably over-did it and got too tired, but at least you got out before the bad weather..My neice is stocked up on everything, including water.. in case of power outage. They may get a generator for the House. You have to be careful with those , however..She has a two story house, so they are all cleaning up now and storing food in the garage and pantry in the house..Harriet, I hope you have a heat sorce other than electric.. They can use the fireplace with gas. Grill food on the  sun deck if necessary..Harriet you take care..Do not go outside and fall  please..

I noted that Alan will be in MS near my cousins in February but my husband said , " you can never know what the weather will be like now, for then"..I will call them she goes to that casino with friends I think..and stays overnight at times.I will tell Her Alan will be there, in case they would like to go. I am so sad we may not be able to drive there in February..The weather can really be bad up past February..I want to see Alan & the StrayHorns so bad..I will pay, maybe he will drive ha

Must get some rest , my husband had to give me his cold, again.. he never got colds before he became diabetic, now he gets them  more , I think.. That is something I do not like to share ha!

Take care to all and keep warm, Florida is cold too but no snow at least..My electric bill was high this month, I never usually ever notice, but I had the house really warm for months & wow the bill was huge ha!

I hope all of you are doing well and stay safe.. Dizzy and family, I hope you are ok.. also Kathy , Harriet, Jean/b and Jean az, Sue ALSO..,

Tammy I hope you are ok too, and all of you I've not mentioned.. Elaine take care and I hope you are well.
Goodnight, I must go to Church tomorrow, so much to be grateful for..and pray for..
God Bless, Jerrie-MS
There is no meet & greet in MS  boo hoo.. or front row..I am still going to keep after my husband to take me to see Alan.. l
had to get back on to say, Harriet please take care and be ready for the cold..Have plenty of down Comforters or blankets, lots of candles and batteries too. Take care..now please.. Love to all AJ Fans. I hope Terry and family are ok too!

PS-Prayers for the people who were killed in AZ and for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' recovery. We, as a society  have to change and perhaps this is a wakeup call for our Country.. There has never been so much hatred and rudeness among news people  and politics.. Unstable people prey on this and it escalates into violence.

to 20.
Jeri it was so sad seeing what went on in AZ. Sorry to
hear you got your hubbyies cold.

far from home.
Kelsey had a wonderfu basketball tournament. They won
and Kelsey got the MVP of the tournament. They had a
nice write up and picture of her in the paper this morning.
She just loves sports so I think she would do good in what

Hi to all AJ fans,

Oh just got off the phone with Jana talking about her wedding plans.  Country club prices are expensive and items she feels she must have.   Agh.  Oh well, we are giving her a set amount and she will have to make up the difference.
Harriet, that's tough when you have to work on increasing your endurance.  Hoping you start getting back to normal soon.
Sadness over  the senseless tragedy in Arizona.
Elaine, congratulations to your granddaughters.  YOu must be very proud of them!  Exciting that you get to see them play. That's unfortunate you won't get to see d'man!
Minnesota is covered in snow and engulfed in cold temperatures.  Makes me a winter hermit.

The snow started at 9 PM & was falling at 3 inches an hour according to local stations. Our deck easily has 4 inches on it  & tomorrow it will change over to sleet & freezing rain which will ice everything over.
Hubby & I are staying put until it is safe to go out. There are massive traffic jams & wrecks & expressways closed already. I don't know why all those people are in their cars in this kind of weather. Except for emergencies or trying to get to work people should not be in their cars.

BHR & Tammy- how does it look where you are?

In Arkansas it started snowing here sunday afternoon and quit here during the early morning,  We got 6 inches snow here  and interstates are showing where semi trucks are sliding and  causing the interstates to close.           Schools and some business places are closed.              Later today we are to get sleet and ice.      Bill had to work today  and got  there safely.                    Take care everyone in the south  that has gotten  this weather.

Harriet, we got about couple of inches of snow, at least in the part of Newnan we're at, but most of the stuff on the ground is slush and ice. Hubby optioned on staying at home, called the clinic and told the few people that made it there to go ahead and close the clinic, go home and be careful driving out there. He's waiting for a word right now if from the front desk (hospital) if they're even going to open the clinic tomorrow with the sleet and ice to follow this snowstorm later on. As everywhere else in the Atlanta Metro, schools, offices and businesses shutdown today. The only thing we're hoping and praying for now is we don't get power outage in our area. We don't have portable heater, battery operated or otherwise (we didn't think of it until yesterday afternoon and by then the stores we went to no longer have the battery operated ones available), so if the power goes out, we're basically in the cold. We do have sleeping bags and thick blankets to keep us all warm but don't really know if they will be enough. We'll find out, I guess. This, definitely, is a lesson learner for us. Thanks for asking.

Suem, thanks for starting this thread. . .and literally from miles high. You just set a "historic" record here at the forum. . .the first to start a thread while on flight aboard a plane. :-) Isn't modern technology just great? I read where they've started working on making cellphone usable while on flight. That is, that people will be able to use their cellphone to call someone while the plane is airborne without it causing minor or major interferences in/with the cockpit equipments. Not sure that's such a good idea, though. The last thing I'd need or want is to be seated next to a passenger yacking away on the cellphone while on a long flight and, worse off, be onboard  a plane with a pilot and or co-pilot yacking on their cellphone while piloting the plane. Now that's a scary thought. The idea, they say, is to give the passengers a means to be able to assist in foiling highjacking/terrorism attempts aboard an airborned plane. Guess we can all look forward now to a REAL stressful flight with all the noise the people yacking on their cellphones will make, collectively. (Sigh. . .)

Everyone of you who are in this wintry weather condition, stay safe, stay warm, keep warm and take care.

HUGS,
BHR

Hi everyone. Yes it is January, and here in Indianapolis we are about to get blasted with more snow (4-7 inches). The cold is here and seems like it's not leaving anytime soon. I hope everyone is staying warm and healthy. Take care.

This mornig we have 6 inches of snow & now freezing rain is falling & predicted to fall all day & ice this stuff up. So we will be homebound today & probably for several days as the temperature will not get out of the 30's until the weekend.. Also the high today is 29. Hubby took his leaf blower & got the snow off the porch & front steps.

Kathy & Brenda- I know you both get a lot of snow but this snowstorm in the South has effectively shut down the city of Atlanta. We just don't get much snow here.

BHR- Thanks for the report. I, too, fear power outtages & hope it doesn't happen. Not to you either. All our appliances & our blower for the heat are electric. We do have a fireplace.

Dee- it sounds like you got a lot too. Stay safe & stay home if you can[./b]
