Thanks for starting the November thread Harriett.

Sorry you've had the flu Nelle.  Glad it was a mild case.

It's cool here today too.  Not raining, but overcast all day.  Today is my oldest daughter's birthday.  She is at the age where this birthday is bothering her!  LOL!  How does she think I feel?

We had no trick or treaters, so I get to eat the Tootsie Pops!

Terry and Dot, hope you have safe travels to Mt. Juliet.  Have fun and tell us all about it. Hope to make it to Cracker Barrel tomorrow.

There was another rock slide on I-40, this one on the TN side.  I know the detour before this latest slide was 50 miles out of the way.  The news is saying it may be 6 months before it is fixed.  Three cars were involved with the first one.  Those of you who have ever been on I-40 going into TN from NC, know that they have wire fencing up with signs of possible falling rock!  Now that would be scary to be driving along and a rock (the side of a small building) falls off the mountain, along with 100s of other rocks.

November already?  Oh my!  Thanks for starting the thread Harriet.

We had a beautiful day today - yesterday was cold & windy.  We had no trick or treaters either.  All the more for me!!

Keely, sorry to hear you had the flu.  Hope you're feeling better soon.

Will be going to Cracker Barrel for dinner tomorrow night and a little shopping expedition.  Hope everyone going to see Alan gets an autograph - I'll be thinking about you!

Oh Elaine - your "20 this morning" makes me want to put up my Christmas tree! We had frost on the roof tops this morning but it got to 55 when I was on my second trip to Cracker Barrel.

Elaine, thank you for reminding me why I am blessed to live here in SC!  We had sun for the first time in 3 days yesterday, but it hasn't been cold.  It was up to 65 deg. yesterday.  Of course I have my furnace on because it does cool down at night.

Beautiful full moon last night and we went to see my gs play a game in the stinger football playoffs.  They lost but they played their hearts out.  The coach gave them a good talk afterwards and the boys were fine!  Some of those players look like they could play varsity football!

I'm not ready for any Christmas tree!  I'm even thinking of not even putting one up this year (I've said that for the last 5 years), I've gone to a prelit tree and saw one advertised in the CW yesterday that lays flat and you pull it up on a pole.  It was from Bradford and had Thomas Kinkade ribbon.  It looked pretty, I may check that out.  It's supposed to lay flat for storage.

If nothing happens, my husbands sister, her husband, nephew, his wife, niece, her husband will be coming this weekend.  They are not staying with us, but probably will be here most of the time.  I know our son and family will come out and we've invited my daughter & granddaughter to come down also.  So it will be a small family reunion (small for Jerry's family).  That will be at least 13 that I will be cooking for.  I'm sure we'll go out one night, but I will have to have food for the rest of the time.  Just hope I don't get too stressed over it and am a nice hostess and my husband doesn't drive me nuts!  He likes to tease me in front of his family.  I do not have the best sense of humor when the jokes about me!  Enough of that.

Y'all have a good day.

Hello AJ Buddies. Nice crisp Fall weather here. Enjoyed seeing Alan's Collection at Cracker Barrel. Very nice. Bought the Christmas ornaments & the album. Will get more later- really like the shirts.
Had a little setback yesterday- started coughing & wheezing again. Notified my doctor & now he wants me to see a lung specialist.

Terry- glad you got to go to the signing. You look great in your hat & denim jacket.

Keely- Hope you are fully recovered.

Sharon-that really was a beautiful full moon. Where on I-40 is that mudslide?

Kathy- hope you got to make your trip to Cracker Barrel.

JeanB- Glad you can still ride your bike.

Elaine- Sounds really cold where you are.

Hi Sue & January.

Harriet, the first rock slide was between Asheville,NC and the TN line, second one was actually in TN.  Probably close to one another but before you get to Gatlinburg.  The USC fans had to detour going to the game in Knoxville last Saturday.

I hope to get to CB this afternoon.  JeanB, you're right, if I don't make it, it's more $$$ in my pocket!  LOL!

Well, the guys were fixing my ceiling this morning getting ready for a new roof and the shingles have arrived in my front yard.  The kitchen guy came by with my son to measure for new counter tops, new cabinet for dishwasher and some additional cabinet space.  This will be Christmas, anniversary, birthday, from hubby and son for many years to come!  LOL!  So glad the company is coming, because the ceiling looked bad in the sunroom from the leak!

Oh yes, JeanB, I will be cooking.  Just one big dinner probably.  Thinking of baking a ham, potato salad or hash brown casserole and macaroni and cheese and green beans.  Haven't even thought of dessert, but banana pudding is a favorite of my husband so I may even make that. I feel pretty generous since I'm getting my kitchen done, LOL!  I hope to do most of it the day before they arrive and all I have to do is put it in the oven.  That's my plan anyway.....We'll see how that works.

I'm off to CB!
