When the broadcast began on WSM last night, Eddie Stubbs mentioned that fans began lining up on Sunday to buy tickets for the concert (14 hours before the tickets went on sale).  He conducted a nice interview with Alan before the concert started.

Does anyone know how many people are at each of Alan's meet and greets?
Are you able to say anything to him or ask a question? Or are you just able
To stand next to him and pose for a picture?  Does he speak to you? Thx!

I met Alan at the M Resort in Las Vegas around three years ago.  It was outdoor concert and M&G winners were requested to line up just off stage prior to the concert.  I would estimate 20 - 25 fan club members plus others who had won M&G in radio contests, record company events, etc.  Each of us were ushered into a separate air-conditioned tent to meet Alan and have a picture taken with him.  It is all fairly quick but you have time to talk briefly with Alan.  Yes, Alan speaks to you and appears to really enjoy the interaction with fans.  It is a memorable experience --- don't miss it!

There have been quite a few negative comments/complaints about the new fan club ticket procedure. I would think that someone in Alan's management would take note of this. Fans that have supported AJ for years such as Hope shouldn't be having these issues obtaining fan club seats. I don't pretend to know the inner workings concerning promoters, venues etc. but I've never understood why an artist's fan club couldn't set aside a block of tickets and sell them directly to fan club members. I'm sure there's a reason, legal or otherwise, why it's not done this way.

This the way that the Brad Paisley Fan Club handles tickets for fan club members.  They have each venue set aside "the best seats" for early purchase by his fan club members.  My experience has been great --- always get tickets in the first few rows.
I believe that this is the same method that the Alan Jackson Fan Club handled tickets for fan club members for many years, so I don't kow why things have changed.  Also, I am not a fan of the VIP tickets to meet Alan --- it seems to me that it reduces the number of fan club members who have a chance for a Meet and Greet with Alan.
On the other hand, the absolute worse experience that I have had is with the Kenny Chesney Fan Club.  There seems to be no "method to the madness" in how tickets are made available to his fan club members.  In my experiences, tickets shown as available soon after fan club tickets go on sale may be back in the rafters.  Now, I realize that some of the problem is caused by members going online and holding tickets for viewing seat locations and this situation makes those tickets being shown as unavailable for that period of time.  But, why would you want to pay membership dues to his fan club to be able to purchase tickets in the rafters early --- that is just crazy!
Overall, I have been a member of the Alan Jackson Fan Club longer than any other country artist --- 20 years --- so I guess that says something about who I really like and appreciate as one of the greatest country music writers and performers of all time!!!

That performance today by Alan is what endears him to all of his fans --- just a wonderful person!

The entire event was televised LIVE on all Nashville TV stations.

I saw this story reported on one of the Nashville TV stations on Saturday or Sunday evening.  They also showed a picture of Alan that appeared to have been doctored because it made Alan look around 75 years old.  You would think that the TV station would have confirmed this story with Alan before reporting it as factual.   Shocked

If you go to the Grand Ole Opry website reporting the death of George Jones, the first artist's quote is that of Mr. Alan Jackson --- truly spoken from the heart.

The Ticketmaster website now shows many floor seats available, but in the range of $237.75 to $727.50.  Who is going to pay these high prices?

I checked the Ticketmaster website on Wednesday afternoon and showed NO floor seats available.  What a bummer!!!

I sent an e-mail message to the fan club about preferred seating and received a response that the venue didn't offer any tickets to fan club members.  I will be sending another e-mail message to the Ford Center voicing my complaint about such a policy.  It doesn't make any sense.

The Evansville Courier and Press also published a story on Monday (yesterday) announcing the concert.  Ticketmaster shows tickets to the general public going on sale this Wednesday (tomorrow).

Evansville is now shown available for Front Row Ticket Giveaway, but nothing about Preferred Seating.  Seems strange.

The website for the new Ford Center in Evansville shows Alan Jackson on February 8.  Is this correct?  It also shows tickets to the general public going on sale on November 21 --- was there ever a sale for preferred seating for fan club members?

Hey AJ fans! I can't believe I am just now joining this man's fan club.  I have been a fan for as long as I can remember back.  Always been my absolute #1 favorite!!  I heard rumors of him coming to KY again and today it has been confirmed!! I signed up for the contests, which are so awesome, though I honestly don't know if I could handle a M&G.  I'm sure I wouldn't be able to speak.  I see the presale is at 1am my time, not sure how well that will work but I'm going to try! Just thought I would say hello to the fellow fans  Smiley

Lynsey

When I met Alan at a Meet and Greet in Las Vegas, I told him that I had been a big fan from the very beginning --- to which he replied:  "That's been a long time!"  Just as you would expect, Alan is a real down-to-earth individual and it was a real honor to get to meet him and tell how much I have enjoyed his music over these many years.
14  General Category / Live Show and Tour Discussion / Re: Preferred Seating Question on: September 04, 2012, 11:49:33 pm
I ordered preferred seating for the first time and was hoping to get in the first few rows.  I waited a few days after they went on sale because I didn't understand how it worked.  My seats are in row 13 so I am afraid I won't be able to see very well that far back in the floor seats.  i also bought seats in the stands because I was afraid the floor seats would be bad.  Now I have to decide which ones to use and which ones to give to friends.

Any seat on the floor in the first 20 rows will be great.  Just a thought --- take some ear plugs in the event that you are very near large speakers and you have sensitive ears --- you don't want that to intrude on a great night of music with Alan Jackson!!!!!
15  General Category / Off Topic / Randy Travis on: September 04, 2012, 11:44:07 pm
I am not saying that Alan is the man to do this, but I hope that one of Randy's peers in Nashvile will take him aside for a face-to-face and heart-to-heart talk and tell him:  "You've got to get yourself some help or you are going to end up dead."  This is so sad to see.  Of course, this may also have happened and Randy has ignored the advice --- in that case, then it's probably hopeless.  Just my two cents.
