Jeri, guess I've been reading and not replying because nothing much is happening. The weather has been absolutely heavenly. Beautiful fall days and wonderful cool nights (all the better to sleep). I've been trying some new recipes that I see on the Food Network. I made The Barefoot Contessa's meatloaf yesterday and it was wonderful. My son loved it - definitely a keeper. One of the best meatloaf recipes I've tried. Also made Paula Deen's chicken salad and it was great too. This is one of her original recipes that she first started her catering business with. Yummy! Also, I got my membership renewal with a wonderful 'new' picture of Alan. I'm good for another year, now!

Kathy, would love the Barefoot Contessa recipe. I'll go to her web site too.
I woke up early this morning. I was working on a financial statement for the church yesterday and couldn't get it to balance, got up and played on FB and then worked on the financial report. Got it done, yippee!
Watched Nicole play on the webcam this weekend. She did get to play some and the camera zeroed in on her. That was fun. Just wish they lived closer. But it will only be a couple of weeks when she will be playing in the area and I'll get to see her.
Our county fair is in town this week. I'm planning on going Wednesday night. Love to see the exhibits and walk around the midway. Don't ride any rides anymore. They are having bull riding this year for a first. Plus some concerts. The weather is supposed to be nice.
Hello to everyone and take care!

I've had that problem of not balancing either the bank statement or the F/S and find that if I leave it overnight and then go back to it, it will balance. Must have been too tired to finish it last night. We've had some great weather in SW Michigan too lately, sunny, warm days and cool nights. Love it. Leslie

HI DEAR FRIENDS...LONG TIME NO POST, I KNOW, BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN IDLE!! RETURNED LAST FRIDAY EVE FROM A GLORIOUS TRIP TO TUSCANY WITH 3 OF MY KIDS. THE JOURNEY BOTH WAYS (17 HOURS BY PLANE) WAS PRETTY HORRENDOUS, BUT ALL THE 2 WEEKS IN BETWEEN WAS JUST MAGNIFICENT. HAD A RENTED VILLA OUTSIDE THE VILLAGE OF ACIANO, VINEYARD AND OLIVE GROVE AND ALL. BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE. WE TRAVELED BY CAR OVER THOSE UNBELIEVABLY WINDING, NARROW ROADS, RARELY MARKED...AND BAREY TWO CARS WIDE! BUT THENJ, IT SEEMS ITALIANS WALK (AND SMOKE) EVERYWHERE REGARDLESS OF THE STEEP HILLS. THEY HAVE TO WALK, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE TO PARK!!! I AM PROUD TO SAY THIS GREAT-GRANNY MANAGED TO KEEP UP PRETTY DARN WELL. THE HIGHLIGHT FOR ME, BESIDES THE SCENERY AND THE MARVELOUS FOOD, ( AND WINE!) WAS SEEING THE STATUE OF DAVID IN FLORENCE. THE CATHEDRALS ARE MAGNIFICENT OF COURSE, BUT THAT CREATION OUT OF A HUNK OF ROCK (DISCARDED BY TWO OTHER SCULPTORS) WAS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. FUNNY HOW THE NOISY CROWD SIMPLY BECAME HUSHED WHEN YOU WALKED INTO THE AREA WHERE THE STATUE STANDS. AND WHY NOT? IT IS BREATHTAKING. 17 FEET TALL, AND PERFECTLY PROPORTIONED. NOT A CHISEL MARK IN SIGHT. IT TRULY TOOK MY BREATH AWAY. I FOUND THE ITALIANS IN BUNCHES TO BE RATHER RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY, BUT THE INDIVIDUALS WE MET, WERE WARM AND DELIGHTFUL..AND OH MY GOODNESS..DID I MENTION THE FOOD?? IF THERE WERE A WAY TO BE TELEPORTED THERE AND SKIP THE TRAVEL TIME, I WOULD GO BACK IN A HEARTBEAT. BUT AT LEAST...HELLO AGAIN!jean-az/allalanalways

Jean/AZ: So glad you had a marvelous time in Italy. I hope you took some pictures and you'll be able to share them. I can't remember the name of the movie a few years ago about the lady who bought the villa in Tuscanny, but I could just picture you being there. Did you happen to see that movie? Did you ride a bike or scooter while y'all were there?
Went to our county fair last night. It was a beautiful night, walked the midway, saw the agricultural exhibits and industrial. There was a petting zoo and they had a zebra, camel, koatimundi, porcupine, and miniature horse, llama, alpaca to name just a few. It was a very nice fair this year. A friend and I went. Of course had to have a funnel cake.
Gonna get busy, y'all have a great day.

I love Ina Garten - I watch a lot of the food network - my husband always says" Don't you ever get sick of that" as he switches to the never ending NCIS on USA LOL - He will watch Guy Fieri... and I love Alton Brown.. Worn out with Bobby Flay - Overexposed....... SO who do you think will win the next Iron Chef? I am kind of partial to MingTsai but probably because I used to watch him many years ago when he had his own show.
Chicken salad - I am making the one from Alan's cookbook today....
The weather has turned a little less than gorgeous - spitty rain and cooler - typical fall but will make it impossible to close the lake if we can't get the leaves up and the pontoon covered.
Sharon - I am a corn dog fanatic at the fair - and I always go for the fried snickers - was so hoping to try the chocolate covered bacon this year but neither fair I went to was doing that....
Happy October to all - I can't believe we are so close to the end of the month and how quiet this board has become....

JeamAZ - what a great trip you had. I would love to do that some day.
January - I'm not much into Iron Chef, just doesn't do anything for me. I love the Food Network and watch it a lot, but I also love NCIS reruns! LOL

Hi! It's another beautiful day - sunny & cool. Perfect fall day.
Celebrating my youngest son's birthday this weekend and of course that means Calzones and birthday cake (yellow w/chocolate frosting). Friends coming for dinner tomorrow night. Once this birthday is out of the way, my mind turns to Christmas. Only two months away and I usually get my shopping mojo set into high gear! LOL

HI AGAIN FRIENDS...MY BODY RETURNED WITH ME, AND I AM EXPECTING MY MIND TO FOLLOW ANY DAY NOW, STILL A BIT OFF THE CLOCK". LUCKY LADY...THE MOVIE WAS "UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN", AND YOU CAN SEE THE VILLA IN THE MOVIE, BUT WE DIDN'T SEEK IT OUT. HONEY, I AM GOING TO BE 79 NEXT MONTH, SO NOT ABOUT TO RISK BIKE OR MOTOR BIKE RIDES...YET. DID ENCOUNTER LOTS OF BIKERS BUT ITALY DOES NOT "DO" BIKE LANES AT ALL..THEY BARELY DO ROADS, NARROW, TWISTING AND BARELY 2 CARS WIDE! MY SON DOUG FROM L.A. DID THE DRIVING, BLESS HIS HEART! THE STREETS WERE ALL COBBLESTONE OR BRICK, AND MUCH HILL CLIMBING IN EVERY VILLAGE, SO WHILE WATCHING MY STEP CAREFULLY, I GOT TO SEE ALOT OF TRULY BEAUTIFUL SHOES! EVEN THE LITTLE KIDS WORE LOVELY LEATHER SHOES. I THOUGHT THE ITALIANS OF ALL AGES DRESSED WITH A REAL FLAIR, NOT NECESSARILY EXPENSIVE OR HIGH FASHION, BUT JUST WITH ATTITUDE AND CONFIDENCE, LOTS OF SCARVES AND OF COURSE THE LEATHER BAGS THAT THE AREA IS FAMOUS FOR. OH FRIENDS, I HAVEN'T EVER MASTERED POSTING PICTURES, I SO WISH I COULD..I WOULD LOVE TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL THAT MAGNIFICENT COUNTRYSIDE, THE VINEYARDS AND OLIVE GROVES (THE VILLA WE STAYED IN, CASE NELLA, HAD BOTH, AS DID OUR NEIGHBORS. WE SAT OUT ON A BALCONY AND JUST BREATHED IT ALL IN, THE PEACEFUL SERENITY OF IT. I AM SUCH AN AVID READER, BUT THE BOOK WENT UNOPENEND, THERE WAS JUST SO MUCH TO REST YOUR SOUL WITH. BUT I MLUST TELL YOU, THE AUTOMATIC WASHER TOOK 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES TO DO ONE LOAD! THE DRYER..FORGET IT, THATS WHAT ALL THE CLOTHES LINES ARE FOR! DIFFERENT WORLD, DIFFERENT CULTURE, A STEP BACK CENTURIES IN SOME OF THE VILLAGES, WE WENT WITH THE FLOW AND ENJOYED IT ALL..BUT OH, THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!jean-az/allALANalways
