Now that I'm retired, I don't have much to report!  LOL
I especially enjoy the mornings, knowing that I don't have to rush to get ready for work and fight the traffic.
Today, I've been cleaning closets - I'm such a packrat!  Goodwill is making out on this deal!

I've already secured a part-time job starting in Sept.  It will be doing admin work, but mostly from my home office.  It's perfect for me and will keep my brain engaged.  12-15 hrs a week is all, and it will give me a little extra pin money for traveling!

JeanAZ, have fun on your trip to MN - go TWINS!
BHR - sympathies sent your way on the passing of your loved one.
JeanB - so glad to hear your heart check-up was good.
Jeri - all the best for your husband's tests.
Harriet, hope you are feeling better every day.

So happy about the news of Alan's ASCAP award - YEEHAW!

Where does the time go?

So happy to read of Alan getting the ASCAP honor!  He deserves it for his talent.

Kathy, your part time job sounds ideal.  Good for you.

Jean-AZ, have a wonderful time seeing your Twins new stadium and name engraved on the wall.  That was such a sweet gift from your sons.  So we're all cubs fans at heart?  Okay, if you say so.  Also glad you had big brothers to take care of you.
Had some blood work redone this a.m.  The doc just wanted to make sure my meds were doing their thing.  The M.A. who took my blood was finishing her practicum.  She was so sweet and proud of what she has accomplished, and I was proud for her.

Thought I had to fix dinner tonight and then realized Jerry has a business dinner/meeting.  Goody, goody, I can eat left overs!  Doesn't bother me at all.

Well, I still have not found a life size poster of Alan Jackson.  I've written to Cindy about maybe their having one hidden somewhere (who am I kidding).  There aren't any on ebay or Craigslist. either.  Of course I don't want to pay an arm and a leg, but I was willing to pay up to $100 for one.  Isn't that silly?  Guess I don't really need it.  I'm like you Jeri, I just need to see the man and the Strayhorns.

Got a copy of Breaking Dawn from the library, maybe I'll get into that book tonight.

Jean/B:  Glad your checkup went well.

Jeri: Lexington, NC is about 2 1/2 hrs. NE of me, near Highpoint.

Miamired:  I was in the 9th grade when you were born, ha ha!  I lived in Miami until '62 when I graduated then moved to Ohio for 3 years.  My parents left Miami Springs and moved to Hollywood when I finished school.  So when I moved back to FL we moved to Broward County.  The Cuba crisis was beginning in '59 and you're right it changed a lot after that.  When I lived there, it was safe to go just about anywhere in Miami and I rode public transportation to work downtown during Christmas.  Loved to go to the Orange Bowl parade on New Years and we played our high school games in the Orange Bowl.  It was a great time then.  Left FL in '72 and have been in South Carolina ever since.  Y'all really didn't want to know all that did you?

Have a great evening and hello to anyone I missed......

Hello Everyone.  Where does the time go.  It has been a few days since I have been on here. Time just flies when you get older.  Always running out of time.

BHR you are still in my thoughts and prayers.

JeanB- It is nice to hear you had a nice vacation.  I am glad your heart checkup went well.

Today is my big day.  I have to go for my colonscopy this afternoon.  I am not looking forward to it.  I am starving.  I want to eat so badly.  All day yesterday I ate and drank jello, water, broth, gaterade.  I am sick of all that.  I want my food.

Jeri - I hear everyone talking about your husband going for surgery.  What kind of surgery?

Kathy - Happy Retirement.  I have about nine years more to work. My husband can retire next year if he wants.  He will have 30 years at General Motors.  But he will probably work a little longer.  He is only 47 years old.  I always tell him that I should be the one retiring first because I am older, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.  I have had to change my places of work a few times because of downsizing and that has affected my pension.  If I only could win the lottery.

Take care all and talk to you later.  Anita

Hello to All. Treading water here. Had the MRI Wednesday & will be taking it to the shoulder specialist on Tuesday. I'm ready for a verdict no matter what it is. Will be glad when we can take a vacation- we really need one. These are really the Dog Days of August big time.

Sharon- Agree with you about leftovers. Whe we go out to eat we bring home half our meal & make another meal with it. Do you kmow if Terry is OK?

JeanB- So glad to hear you got a good checkup with the doctor & enjoyed your vacation.

Jean-AZ-How nice that you have a brick in the new stadium. You & I really share a love for America's pastime.

Anita- Hope you get a good report from your colonoscopy. Not a pleasant experience but it's nice to get good results.

miamired- Hope you don't get any hurricanes in Florida.

Jeri- Thanks for the well-wishes. I will know something soon & will let you all know.

BHR- You remain in my thoughts & prayers. Hope you got some rest.

Kathy- It's neat that you found a part time job to pick up some extra money. I agree with you about the mornings being so nice in retirement.

Elaine- I would love to see 60 degrees- don't like those 90's one bit.

Love to All.

Hi Guys,

Well we are home long enough to get rested and go back for  more . My hubby's EKG had a slight problem, but they did the
colonoscopy anyway and it went ok, two polyps, hopefully they are nothing..Heart Dr is keeping check on him....
Anita- Hope you get a good report from yours, I thought of you.. You were asking about "what kind of surgery was my hubby having", he is deciding with a specialist now , when to have the (SM) lump removed from his pancreas.. he wants to get out of the Hospital a while and visit relatives  maybe first. we are so tired of tests.
Sharon , my sister called and  they were in Bangor Maine now where it's nice and cool, she loves the temps. It's so hot here in FL, my asthma has really been a problem. They go to MN later, they have friends that live there from GA..own a place and land.So that should be fun..
Anita, my husband could retire too but he prefers to work & stay busy, probably addicted to his work. he retired from the Military and now does contracts for the gov.w/a corp. he is much older than your husband..Men are working much longer now.
Kathy, it is boring at home, I enjoyed it when my children were home but I keep busy with Dr appnts now ha!  I think working a few hours will be good. I hope all of you are much better.. I'm so tired to adress everyoneI just hope you are all ok. Take care all of you..Bless all you AJ Fans, Jerrie-MS-FL
Alan Newfoundland Fans really seem in Awe of Alan, like we all are.! He is super nice! Wish I could  see him & The Band!

Hi to all,

HariAJfan - I hope the results for the shoulder will be okay and good luck with your appt on Tuesday with the shoulder specialist.

Sharon - That's what we do to with what we don't finish at the restaurant we bring home and make another meal out of it.

Jeri_MS - Well I hope that all goes well with your husband.  You mentioned your husband worked for the military.  My stepson, Adam, is in the Canadian Military. He works on the electronics of the "Hercules" planes.  He has been to
Afghanistan twice now.  He hopes he doesn't have to go back, especially now that his girlfriend is pregnant.  I have worked with the provincial govt in Canada for the last 11 years.  But what I do has been transferred to the Federal govt a few years ago.  We are just cleaning up all the left over business and then my job ends in November.  But I was lucky that I got offered a job with the Federal govt starting at the end of November, as a Collections officer.  It won't be what I have been doing at the Provincial govt.  But at least it will be a job and it will be about 10 minutes from home, just like now.

By the way, all went well with my procedure yesterday.  They found no polyps.  The doctor told me that they find more polyps in men than woman.  Usually only 10% in woman.  That is good news.  But even if you have polyps, it doesn't always mean that they are cancerous.  I have had many friends that have had them and they were nothing.

I hardly hear  Alan on the radio anymore.  At work I cannot even get the country station.  There is too much static.  I have heard his new song only a few times.  I really like it.  I haven't seen the video of it yet.  I am going to see Dwight Yoakam this Thursday with my husband.  In October I am going to see Sarah Brightman. The Canadian Tenors are opening up for her.  They are pretty good too.  In November, I will be going with a friend to see Johnny Reid.  He puts on a good show too.  I haven't got to see Alan yet and I get two free tickets from the fan club to go see him.  I should make a trip of it and see him somewhere else away from home.

Take care all.  Anita

Hello from HOT Arizona, visiting my daughter and grandson for his 13th birthday.  There's been 9 teen age boys here all day and 6 are spending the night.........OH WHAT FUN....  I may have to go get a roll of duck tape soon!!!

There was a terrible off road accident tonight in our home town of Lucerne Valley.  They have annual truck races on the dry lake not far from our home.  One of the trucks went off the track and into the spectators, killing at least 8 and injuring dozens more, according to the news.  A friend of my son's is a paramedic and was at the races, off duty and said the death toll will be much higher.  Thankfully none of our kids were out there as they usually go to those races at this dry lake.

Terry- So glad to see you posting. Just read about that accident on the news & glad none of your family was there. It is really sad.

Thanks, Anita, for the well- wishes.

Jeri- Still have you & your hubby in my prayers.

Our temperatures have cooled to the high 80's but humidity is very high- 80's & 90's so it still feels hot.

Just biding my time & waiting for Tuesday.

Hugs to All.

Cooling down over the next couple of days.  Hooray!  But it's supposed to climb back up with storms & humidity toward the end of the week.

Heard about that horrible accident in the desert in CA - just terrible.  Terri, so glad none of your family was there.  Prayers to all the families involved.

AnitaMartina - glad to hear your colonoscopy went well and there are no problems.

Harriet - good luck with your doctor's visit on Tuesday.  Hope you get some definite news and go forward with some kind of treatment.

I'm really enjoying the new ZBB & Alan single - what a great collaboration!

I may have missed it..spendiing all our time @ Drs.
Edited,
Sorry BHR, I hope you find a great place to retire..my relatives live in Rome Ga. and conyers..Sorry about your son
but the Military is like that, it's up or out..Maybe he could go to school and get a job too. Jobs are hard to find in GA too. My neice's hubby lost his good Job and a beautiful Home.., they are now moved in with her parents..it's so sad, she is going to  be a nurse.. I like the peach tree city area, close to Drs and hospitals. Maybe it's good your son will be there, if your husband is not well, never know..Gov. work is always good and pays well but people with a degree are not getting jobs easily .I wish you and your family the best. I hope your hubby's test will be ok, have you thought of retiing in a condo or Townhouse, would be less work for your husband. My sisters friend lives in one there and it's really nice..has her own garage and patio in back. Anyway I wish you the best Hugs and prayers..Jerrie

Hello, AJ Friends,

Thank you all for your condolences and prayers. They've been greatly appreciated. I got my rest some but had to do more chores here at home in preparation for our oldest son's (in the Navy) arrival on the 24th of this month. He is getting honorably discharged from the Navy in early-mid October after having taken the last of the limit of number of exams allowed last March, passed it but was not promoted. . .this the U.S. miliary's version of downsizing. . .getting rid of those whose been in over 10 years after not making advancement and signing up new recruits to fill the voids in the name of cutting on funds spending called wages, which is really measly in comparison to corporate wages. He'staking a 2 weeks leave before his discharge date to try and find himself a new job and home here in GA. . .he wants to be closer to the family.

A brief update on a previous news. . .our possible move to Maysville, GA. It's not going to happen. We're not moving. WHEW! Hubby will instead take 2 weeks off from work possibly late October (or around the same time our oldest son moves here in GA) and will go to Maysville to train the person hired to manage the clinic there. I may go with him just to check the place out. Who knows, we might choose to retire there. Hubby's retiring in 3 to 5 years. . .so he says. He's doing fine now and will be seeing the specialist on Wednesday about the liver biopsy result. . .hepatitis. Hoping and praying that it really is not hepatitis. That if it is, that it's not the worst kind. I'll be updating you all.

Harriet, thinking about you and praying that your visit with the specialist tomorrow goes all well with not so bad a news about what the MRI on your shoulder revealed. You have suffered enough.

Kathy, good to hear your retirement is going well. Love and enjoy listening to the ZBB/Alan collaboration as well.

Terry, good to see you posting again. Glad to know your family was involved in that horrible accident. I read about it from an online news site. How awful!

AnitaMartina, glad to hear you had a good colonoscopy result and that it went very well.

Hello, Elaine, Jean-Az, Jeri, JeanB, Nelle, JInx, MiamiRed and everyone else reading this. Take care all and HUGS.

Morning Y'all,
School started yesterday.  I had my grandson Grant here for two days last week.  We had a good time.  He's going into fifth grade.  My youngest grandson.  They grow up so fast.

Terry, I wondered if that accident was close to you.  When Jerry & I were watching the news last night, I said that since it was in the Mojave, I thought it may be close to you.  Thought of your son and hubby.  I knew they liked to ride out in the desert.  So sorry to see it and good that your family was not involved.  Glad you have the time to post again.

BHR, are you glad you're not moving to Maysville?  Would you retire in GA since your son is moving there.  We'll have to get together.  I live about 3 hrs. from Atlanta.  Have met Harriet.  I'm also praying for your husband and the biopsy results.  Some types of hepatitis aren't as bad as others.  As your husband had any blood transfusions?

My granddaughter will be playing college volleyball at colleges close, so Jerry & I have some trips planned in September.  It will be fun.  My daughter said she may not get to play much since she's a freshman, but I'm going just to see her.  Whether she plays or not, is not that important to me.  Just the chance to see the grandkids!

Anitamartina, good news on the colonoscopy.  Now you don't have to worry about it for a while.

Harriet, hope your dr. visits goes well today.

Y'all have a good day!  Nelle, hope you're doing ok.

Hello, Friends. Have been to the doctor with my MRI films & he says I have a torn rotator cuff tendon & will need surgery to fix it. He can't do it with an arthroscope- he will need to make an incision. He can fix it but there is a long recovery time of 8- 12 months so I guess I won't be going to concerts for awhile. Glad I got to see Alan & George Strait this year before it happened. I do not feel I have that big a problem when I watch the news & see all those people in Pakistan being swept away by floods. It just puts everything in perspective. I will be fine- it will just take time.
Thanks to all of you for your continued thoughts & ptayers & sopport.
