Hello, AJ Friends,

Just another quick one here. It seems like I'm always asking for prayers lately, and all your prayers are truly appreciated, but I once again would like to ask for your prayers. I received a call from my hubby's Dad just a few moments ago about the very sudden death of hubby's beloved uncle. . .his Dad's twin brother. He apparently had a fall and hit the back of his head, was taken to the ER but never recovered. Please add to your prayers hubby and his family as they grieve the lost of their loved one. Thank you all so much with much appreciation.

Harriet, I'm glad to hear that you'll finally have an MRI done on your shoulders. I'm in agreement with Jeri that your doctor should already have had you get one right when you started having the problems with it. Sorry to hear about your elbow tendinitis. Wonder if they're related with one another. Take care.

Hi all.  Boy I do not get a chance to be on here too often anymore. I am behind alot with all the news. Just too much going on around here.

BHR - I am sorry to here about your husband and what he had to go through, but I am glad that he is doing better.  My prayers are with you and your family on the death of your husbands' dad's brother.

I see everyone is getting the hot weather.  It has been so hot all summer long here in Ontario, Canada.  We have had hardly any rain in July and so far this month.  I was away camping this last weekend and it was so nice to be near water and cool off.
The humidity is suppose to break tonight but I don't feel it yet.  We shouldn't complain, winter will be here before we know it.

I can't believe the summer is almost over.  I have a bridal shower this weekend to attend to.  It is 2-1/2 hours away.  At the end of next week I have to go for a colonoscopy. (My first).  Not looking forward to that.  I have a wedding to go to Aug 28th and another one Sept 10th. My husband and I, just found out we will be grandparents near the end of December.  This will be our first. I have to pull out my knitting needles and make a baby blanket and outfits. My job has been real busy the last couple of weeks and when I get home I am so tired.

I hope everyone else is doing fine.  I haven't seen January on here lately.  Alot of people are probably busy in the summer.  Well I better go.  Take care all.

HI FRIENDS, ANOTHER 100 PLUS DEGREE DAY HERE..WHAT ELSE IS NEW???  HEY, ITS GOING TO BE COOLER TOMORROW, THEY TELL US...ONLY AROUND 104, WHO ARE THEY KIDDING?
BHR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TO YOU AND YOUR HUSBANDS FAMILY IN THEIR LOSS, HOW SAD.
HARIETT, I SURE HOPE YOU GET SOME ANSWERS AND SOON OVER THAT NASTY SHOULDER PROBLEM.  I THINK I HAD TWO MRI'S DURING THE TREATMENT ETC, AFTER I BROKE/DISLOCATED IT.  IT WAS A LONG HAUL, BUT I REALLY BELIEVE I HAD A VERY GOOD AND ATTENTIVE DR.  I WANTED TO AVOID SURGERY, AND OPTED FOR THE LENGTHY REHAB THING.  MOVEMENT IS SOMEWHAT LIMITED, BUT NO PAIN OR DISCOMFORT NOW.  I WISH YOU VERY WELL, MY FRIEND!
KATHY, I KNOW WHAT LOYAL CUBS FANS SUFFER THROUGH, MY BROTHER AND FAMILY LIVED IN CHICAGO,AND POOR RUSS COULD ONLY SHAKE HIS HEAD.  HE WAS SUCH A DEAR THO, HAVING BEEN RAISED IN MINNEAPOLIS AS I WAS TOO OF COURSE, WHENEVER THE TWINS PLAYED THE CUBS HE WOULD SAY "JEANIE, WE CAN'T LOSE, EITHER WAY!"

I ACTUALLY HAVE SOME HAPPY CAR REPAIR NEWS TO REPORT, YOU ALL KNOW WHAT A NIGHTMARE THAT CAN BE!  I HAVE HAD MY TRUSTY TOYOTA FOR 11 PLUS YEARS NOW, ITS JUST A PUP, BUT THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE AND I HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN IT FROM THE OUTSIDE, A REAL BUMMER.  WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL STATION WHERE I USUALLY JUST GET OIL CHANGE ETC...THEY LOOKED PRETTY GRIM AND SAID, WELL, I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE IT OVER NIGHT, AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE DOOR PANEL, ETC, ETC.  THEY DIDN'T SOUND TOO SURE OF THEMSELVES TO ME, SO I BIT THE BULLET AND TOOK IT TO A TOYOTA DEALER.  I BRACED MYSELF, BUT DROVE IN, THEY HAD THE PART IN STOCK, AND I WAS ON MY MERRY WAY IN ABOUT 35 MINUTES OR SO.  AND WITHOUT ANY SERIOUS DAMAGE TO MY CHECKING ACCOUNT.  BIG DEAL?  TO ME IT WAS.
WILL BE WATCHING MY TWINS PLAY CLEVELAND TONIGHT, AFTER A FREAKY WIN AGAINST THE RAYS LAST EVENING, BUT WE'LL TAKE WHATEVER WE CAN GET!  CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEIR  NEW STADIUM,  AND MY NAME ENGRAVED ON A WALL THERE, MY SON'S HAD THAT DONE, ISN'T THAT NEAT?  WAY BETTER THAN ANY OLD HEADSTONE, I SAY, LOTS MORE FOOT TRAFFIC!
NOW, YOU ALL STAY AS COOL AS YOU CAN, AND GET WELL, BE WELL, AND STAY WELL...

Hi Guys, I'm hanging in there. Yesterday & last night the rainy weather played havoc with my pain level. But I feel better now as it is sunny & beautiful outside. The temperatures have moderated but will be back up to 95 On Sunday.

Jean-AZ- Thanks for the kind words. I too prefer the non-surgical approach but I had PT for 7 weeks & now since my shoulder is worse they stopped the PT & we'll just wait to see what this MRI shows. Someday I may get to take a vacation or go to a concert again.

Elaine- I agree about staying in with the AC on. But I was distressed to hear that my 10 year old nephew's school has not yet fixed ther broken AC & they've been in School since Thursday. His Mom says he is very trired when he comes in.

Anita- You sound so busy but how nice to have a grandbaby.

Jeri- Thanks for your support & kind words. I hope your heat has moderated for today like ours has.

Dee- Just continue to stay inside. Yor heat is worse than ours.

BHR- I am so sorry about your hubby's uncle. How sad for him & more prayers are on the way.

Sharon- I might have to try that red oil, We went to Miami in 1954 & our relatives there did not have AC, We woke up very sweaty every morning.

Everyone, try to stay in & stay cool. Love to All.

Harriet,

I'm a lot like you, I hope my husband just gets over these tests , to finally get back to Alan's Concerts. I miss Alan and his Band too, and it hasn't been that long. Now they called him yesterday and said they wanted to remove the growth on his pancreas. Might be good before becoming cancer, as they thought it was earlier..
I hope you feel better after the MRI soon.. Harriet.. I think we will all feel some better after this heat goes away..

BHR, so sorry for you,  your family and your dear husband. It seems doubly difficult when it's a Twin.My Mom's Twin Passed a short time before her & it was so sad..So sorry for your husband , I know he feels bad enough already, and now this is so sad..I hope your husband continues to improve and our condolences to you all. Prayers we extend to you and your Family, so sorry.Keep the faith..and bless you all.

AnitaMartina, good to see you post, I know what it's like to be busy. we have had so much come up in our family recently..
BTW, Congrats on becoming Gparents the first time, that is great! So much joy from the little Blessings!

It's hot here but my sister going through SC last night said it was so stormy, they could hardly see to drive.. Sharon
they were near Lexington NC , is that near you? They are attending a school homecoming  and visiting relatives.
I am checking for hurricanes, when they are anywhere around ha! The heat is so hot we just stay inside. Like you
AnitaMartina, my husband has his colonoscopy coming soon, before the other surgery..It didn't bother me to have one, I tell them to give me a pill before to relax and then they put something in my IV and I am asleep & when I wake up, it's over.. better to get it done than put it off. I need mine too but I'm having to care for hubby now..so I can wait..
You will be fine I;m sure ! post again when you can..
Lordy! we all have to get better soon! The heat is my biggest problem with Asthma..and hubby being ill..
Jean/az, sounds like you are doing great! looking forward to your Twins game and seeing your Twins new Stadium and your
NAME ENGRAVED ON A WALL THERE, Your SON'S are just wonderful to have that done for you, quiet an honor! Enjoy it!
Take care everyone and  stay cool , I hope Alan has a great run in Canada! Wish I could go!

Yes indeed, the dog days of summer are here!  Here in Miami, it's in the mid 90's with almost the same humidity.  I am a bit tense this time of year, through Sept. due to the threat of hurricanes.  I lost everything in Hurricane Andrew and you never forget that type of experience.

On the upside, my favorite season, "Fall' is not far off.  Regretfully, no change of color with the leaves here, but the temp's are Heavenly.

Luckylady44: You were here in 56', huh?  I was born here in 59' @ Mercy hospital, the nurses were nun's then.  We did not get a/c until the 70's.  Things were different then. The houses were well ventilated with multiple jalouise windows.  Yes, the stores had a/c inside, no enclosed malls with a/c until the 70's.  It was not uncommon for many not to have a/c in their cars then, as it was a very exspensive option. It was not until late junior high that my school had a/c, nor my church.  Being so young at the time, I was able to endure this.  Now, one of my biggest concerns during storm season here is the loss of electricity.  I can endure eating tuna out of a can, if I had to for a week or more.  Now, one day without a/c here in the summer and I would likely pass out.

I don't know when you when last in Miami.  You would not believe the changes.  Sadly, it has not been for the better.  I feel like I am in the minorty here, speaking English.

Hello dear Friends,

We had a great vacation in Germany. The last week weather wasn't very good. We got some rainshowers, so we took our car and drove some miles further to Switserland. It was always sunny there.
I went to the hospital this week for a check-up of my heart and everything was ok. Need to go back in six months.
Harriet, hope you know soon what's wrong with your shoulder. So they can do something on it.
Kathy, congrats. Retirement is the MAX !!! You'll see.
Anita, wish you the best next week at the hospital. And congrats for the futur grandparents.
Jerrie, wish the best hor your husband too.
BHR, my condolances for your husband uncle.
Jean Az. congrats for your name on the wall. You must be a great fan of the Cubbs ... sorry ... the Twins! haha
Elaine, miamired, dee, dizzy, Sharon, and all of you ... keep cool and enjoy the summer. He's almost over!

miamired hi!
I know what you mean, I always dread hurricane season. Lucky for us near Jax, our power lines is below ground, so mine stays on during storms. Our daughter lives in the old ritzy area of town  near the Registry homes..and hers goes off, so she uses our house. we usually leave, if it's a bad one.pray this time we get missed. we haven't been down to Miami in years.I can believe, it's like you say, you feel you are in the minority, probably are..
Jean/b thanks for your wishes for my hubby & all of you..He has never been ill much..Jean/b so glad your checkup was good, and follow up for sure..glad you and your family enjoyed your vacation, sounds wonderful, especially Switzerland.
My hubby's Dad came to this country from Sweden & never went back,( not speaking one word of English) he loved this country! He made a good living, working at an auto factory.I really loved his accent.(.Jean/b @ St Augustine Concert, we met a couple from Germany and they were so nice..going in the venue, a while back, I need to see AJ & the Strayhorns!)
Jean/az, that is such an honor to have your name on the wall of the stadium of the Twins. All my name has yet to be on is
a window in our family Church where I honored dad with a  stained glass window lol- no no I forgot also a brick in the Garden next to the Church haha! Your Sons are wonderful! That is Indeed an honor!
Harriet, I hope you are doing better..and have that MRI soon still thinking of you always..BHR prayers still for you & family..
Kathy have a great time on retirement! Elaine, Dizzy, Sue, Sharon & disappearing Terry, Jean/b, Jean/az, miamired,
Take care ,and enjoy the Summmer, at least we can stay cool inside..Congrats to the ones who got Meet & Greets!!
Enjoy every moment! It goes so fast, try & tell Alan all you want to, fast..
Happy Sunday! Jerrie-

Good Morning, Everyone,

Just want to thank you all for all your thoughts and prayers for my hubby and his family on the sudden passing of his uncle. It was such a shock to eveyrone that knew him. Hubby took last Friday off from work and we went and spent a 2 and a half day weekend with his Mom & Dad. He and his sibings are taking turns through the rest of this week keeping their parents company and driving them places so they are not just home alone all the time and being sad. They actually are taking the twin brother's passing very well, but the whole weekend has been a bit emotional with all the reminiscing and such. We got back home late last night after the usual dinner stop at a restaurant before heading straight for home.

Our warmest thanks, again, to all of you for the thoughts and prayers with much of our appreciation. I'll post more later, but for now I'll be taking a much needed rest. I'm both physically and emotionally tired from the last few days' unexpected event. Take care all and HUGS.

DEAR FRIENDS, THERE IS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT TURNING THE CALENDAR TO AUGUST THAT ALWAYS SEEMS TO PROMISE, EVEN THRU THE CONTINUED HIGH TEMPS, THAT FALL IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.  HERE IN AZ. WE START GETTING LITTLE GLIMPSES OF THOSE BETTER DAYS AHEAD...WEATHERWISE.  WE STILL HAVE LOTS OF SCORCHERS TO GET THRU, BUT THE MORNINGS ARE A BIT COOLER FOR AWHILE...AND THE DAYS ARE GETTING A BIT SHORTER.  BEING A BIG FAN OF FALL AND WINTER (MINUS THE SNOW!!!) I AM ALL FOR THAT.  IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO ME TO BE EASIER TO GET WARM WHEN ITS COLD, THEN TO GET COOL WHEN ITS TERRIBLY HOT.  MY NORTHERN BLOOD, I GUESS.
BHR, HOW SWEET IT WAS TO READ ABOUT YOUR FAMILY GATHERING AROUND TO HELP EACH OTHER WEATHER THE GRIEF IN THE LOSS OF YOUR HUSBAND'S UNCLE.  THATS FAMILLIES AT ITS BEST, ISN'T IT?  SOMEHOW THEN WE ARE REMINDED OF HOW DEAR WE ARE TO EACH OTHER.  BLESS YOU ALL.
HARRIET, I HOPE THEY FIND A SOLUTION THAT'S SPEEDY AND PERMANENT FOR YOUR SHOULDER PROBLEM.  I WAS VERY LUCKY TO AVOID SURGERY I THINK, BUT HAD IT BEEN THE ONLY OPTION, I WOULD HAVE GONE FOR IT.  GOOD LUCK, DEAR FRIEND.
YES, I AM EAGER TO SEE MY MINNESOTA TWINS NEW STADIUM, AND MY NAME ENGRAVED THERE ALONG WITH MANY, MANY OTHER DEVOTED FANS...BUT THE BEST OF ALL WILL BE HAVING SO MANY OF MY FAMILY THERE WITH ME, NOT ONLY MY SONS AND GRANDSONS, 3  NIECES AND HUSBANDS, AND MY ONLY SURVIVING SISTER-IN-LAW, ALL COMING FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY.  I WISH MY BROTHERS COULD BE THERE, TOO, IT WAS WATCHING THEM PLAY BASEBALL AS A KID SISTER, THAT MADE ME THE FAN I AM TODAY.  I HEARTILY RECCOMEND BASEBALL...AND BIG BROTHERS!

ANOTHER THING WE ALWAYS DO WHILE IN MPLS, IS TO VISIT THE NATIONAL CEMETERY THERE, SO I CAN LEAVE A FLAG AT THE GRAVES OF TWO BROTHERS AND ONE UNCLE BURIED THERE.  MY OTHER TWO BROTHERS ARE ALSO BURIED IN NATIONAL CEMETERYS, ONE NEAR CHICAGO, AND THE OTHER IN FT. SMITH, ARK.  IT IS A LABOR OF LOVE AND PRIDE, I ASSURE YOU.
JEAN-B, I TRUST YOU WERE GRINNING WHEN YOU SAID I WAS CUBS FAN!  THO, IN ALL HONESTY, EVERYONE IS A CUBS FAN IN THEIR HEART.
KEEP WELL AND SMILING, ALL OF YOU!
