EMC Events - The Tri-County Dental Coalition is pleased to announce the upcoming concerts featuring award winning singer/song writer Fred J. Eaglesmith and his band on March 26 at the Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute (SFDCI) in Smiths Falls and at the Agricultural Hall in McDonalds Corners on March 27.
Eaglesmith spent 2009 barnstorming North America, Europe and Australia with his band, as well as solo. And this winter he is here with another great show.
The Juno award winning musician grew up on a dirt poor dairy farm bordering the Lincoln County Line in the Niagara Region of southern Ontario. One of nine children, life was not always easy and fair, and his songwriting reflects those life experiences. He has a concern for the poor and those that have experienced injustice, and his heart is reflected in the songs that he writes and sings.
Eaglesmith's recent promotion of World Vision's work in Haiti and support at Christmas for the Steelworkers in the Hamilton area who have lost their jobs attests to that. It only made sense to have him help raise funds for persons struggling with money and pained by dental challenges - the community that the Tri-County Dental Coalition seeks to serve in Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Counties.
Eaglesmith's songs reference farmers struggling with big banks and government, truckers coaxing old rigs with cracked windows, the working man plying broken dreams, the vet dwelling on his war past, etc. He writes about simpler challenging times and how times have changed. Small engines at fairs, old tractors that now sit on restaurant lawns and big old trains are but some of life's reflections.

Eaglesmith's most recent and 17th album, 'Tinderbox', has been hailed as a "masterwork," (Philadelphia Inquirer), as "one of the best albums of last year" (San Jose Metro). It was nominated for a Juno Award and the Polaris Prize. Recently best-selling author and avid music fan Stephen King included Eaglesmith in his "Ultimate Playlist" in Entertainment Weekly, touting him as "country music at its best." As The New Yorker magazine observes, "If you're missing Fred Eaglesmith, you're really missing out."
While Eaglesmith is first and foremost a songwriter and a singer, he is also a great entertainer with a wicked sense of humour. He promises to provide two nights of really great entertainment in Smiths Falls on March 26 and in McDonalds Corners on March 27. We suggest you book your tickets early as these concerts are likely to sell out.
