Good Morning All:

Awwww Jeri, so sorry to hear about your fall and injury to your head.  Poor Thing!  Hugs to you(((((((((Jeri))))))))))

It's Monday morning, and I have so much to do and keep putting it off.  I have one tooth that is giving me fits, but my dil said it may be from my sinusitis, so I took two ibuprofen and hope it goes away.  It so sensitive to the touch and hurts! Ouch!

Terry, I bet the house smells wonderful with the real tree.  I miss that with the artificial one.

The snow they had above us on the NC state line to Asheville was bad.  Cars stranded, power outages, etc., we just got mostly rain.  The sun shone yesterday and is shining today!  Hallelujah!  We do have company coming from TN and NC and I pray the weather holds out so they can come, but don't want them to try if the weather is bad.

Our Christmas program was last night and it was very nice.  I am no actress!  LOL!  I ad-lib too much and probably am too particular about my own performance.  Everyone said I did fine (of course they did, what else could they say? LOL)  It was nice and we had a good audience.

Okay, I'm gonna get busy around here.  Y'all have a very good day.

I hope everyone who had an early Christmas had a wonderful time with family.   It is hard to believe it is only 5 nights away.  It sounds like we are going to have a mix of rain and freezing rain Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  So we could end up having a green Christmas.  We will be celebrating Christmas with our son and his girlfriend on Wednesday evening.  He is in the military and has to work through Christmas.

Gayle, I want to thank you for a wonderful early Christmas gift.  The Alan Jackson "Let It Be Christmas" Special from 2002 was great.

A tradition that my family had when we were little, but old enough to know there was no Santa, is going to the midnight mass on Christmas Eve.  It is what they call, the high mass,  which the Church choir sings beautiful traditional Christmas songs half hour before the service starts and through the mass.  There is always a soloist who sings Ave Maria and O Holy Night that just puts chills in your back.  Then we would go home and open presents.  Then my mom would heat up these meat sausages that she would make from scratch and we would stay up and eat them.  We usually did not go to bed until around 4:00am.  But then we got to sleep in the next day.  I miss those days. These are memories I will always cherish that my mom and dad gave us when they were alive.  I still attend the midnight mass on Christmas Eve.  When I get home, my husband and I will give each other our stockings and open the items in it.  But my husband wants to wait until Christmas morning to open the gifts.  So that is what we do.

I wish you all a joyful and healthy Christmas and all the best in 2010 just in case I do not have time to get on here again.

That is when the older ones and mom and dad set up the
tree.Once we were older we went to mid night mass.It
has always been so special to us.

Merry Christmas Alan fans.  Are you all ready for the holidays?
We have decided we just don't have enough gifts for those precious grand-kids and we are going to hit the stores one last time tomorrow.  I've been eating way too many of the holiday treats and will pay for it at the scales I'm sure.
I'm off work until next Monday and I hope to enjoy every minute!
Hope you all have a healthy and safe holiday season.

Elaine I am glad you had a good time Sunday but, I am sorry you are going to be alone on Christmas. When I am alone I try and watch some funny or good movies. I don't want to think of the Holidays and be sad when I am alone. I don't watch the NEW YEARS EVE BALL drop at midnight or the FIRE WORKS for the Forth of July.  I believe that if my loved ones in Heaven are in my heart, thoughts and in my Prayers they are always with me. I always think of the last fun time we had together and that is how I cope. God has a reason for everything even though we don't know what it is.  GOD BLESS YOU and your family .LOVE AND HUGS.   Take Cake       nelle

Anita,

Thanks for sharing your Christmas Traditions. Sounds so wonderful. I have a few Catholics in my family but we are C. Presbyterians. my traditions were similar to yours, we attended a Christmas play on Christmas Eve. Usually done by the young people who played the various characters in Bible.I was always an Angel when young, later played Mary. That was easy, with no speaking . Later as a teen being the narrator was not so easy to memorize the words of the whole Christmas Event on that Glorious Night!(I recently saw the Boy who played Joseph, at Mom's funeral & we talked about those special times. He was my cousin. it was fun "Remembering When")- Mom had made my angel outfit out of white material with gold glitter on the wings.

Later, we were in the Country, so we went Christmas caroling, usually someone's Dad would drive a horse & buggy and take us up to the house, of people we knew. We knocked at the door and did variuos songs we had enjoyed in Church. Sometimes we even had snow! It was such fun. the older people were always so happy for us to sing for them, they even offered us Hot chocolate. after getting home we would warm up and get ready for Santa, each of us hanging our stocking by the fireplace.
After going to bed, one night I swore I heard Santa's reindeers and bells ringing going over our house lol
I forgot one Important thing, while warming by the fire before going to bed, mom would read "T'was The Night Before Christmas" sitting by the fireplace,& before kissing us goodnight and tucking us in bed. we always said our prayers.

I will never forget one Holiday that my Dad had told us,"it's such a big snow, Santa might not be able to find us in this."
We had a basement or back then they called them a cellar.. it opened outside and went underneath the house. I suspected I had not been good enough ha! Sure enough, the next morning our Stockings were filled but we had to look for our gifts..( He left a note.) we saw tracks of boots amd snow and we followed that led to the cellar..Dad went with us
half smiling, but I have never seen so much fruit and nuts and in a huge box was gifts and listed for each child. Even one for Dad and I must say he deserved it LOL...We got a sleigh and went up & down the hill over & over..until exhausted.
It was nice to have snow that year and a house on a hill to play on! The old homeplace had a fireplace in our bedroom too!

We always went to our  Grandmothers to eat Dinner and Mom's Mother's to eat Supper. we had this huge layout of all kind of meats, veggies, salads, cake and pies and always Eggnog. I remember Mom cooking the cranberries and hearing them pop in the early morning. she made the best. Such great memories. She always made Dad's favorite carmel cake or coconut
Oh yes!, we had to tell at the dinner table, what that year, we had to be grateful for. we had such great memories of all the family members joinging us later in the day for Eggnog. The children had hot chocolate..w/ Toasted marshmellows.

Later we went home after hugging each member of the family and saying we will do this next year !
All the old Folks are gone now but the Memories will last a Lifetime. Now we share our traditions with our family, who are living near us.. unfortunately families can't all be together now but we see them later.Got to get ready to wrap gifts and get ready for our Christmas celebration to began again! We will attend Church Christmas Eve..next time, due to my accident and not quite ready to get out yet. Our Dinner will be great even if it is served by someone else, I have served my family for over 40 years at Christmas, so it's time Mrs. Claus had a rest LOL I still always cook my Moma's fruitcake , turkey and dressing, sweet potato casserole, Ham,  potato salad,  Jello Salad like Alan's Mom did ha! and veggies. dessert this year will be pecan pie and apple strudel pie, also fruitcake.. Enjoy your Holiday Traditions, it really makes Children secure and promotes such great Memories! Happy Holidays Everyone!!
God Bless and Love In Christ, Jerrie aka Artsy-MS-FL

Elaine sweetie, remember, "You are never Alone", I will say a prayer for you. Do something different  or just enjoy relaxing and Listening to Alan's Music perhaps "Hugs" Time alone is not always a bad thing. I wish for it sometimes when rushed.  Take care all and Enjoy! Happy Holidays to All!

Being Asthmatic, we would have to buy a tree that had no scent.  But it was tall and we decorated it . It always looked so lovely. This year we will have a lighted one but it's so pretty, I'm sure the Teens will understand Grandma being not so well after the fall. My hubby said "Grandma got ran over by a reindeer." LOL actually I feel like it ! Enjoy your Holiday!
Merry Christmas To All! Jerrie (Sharon thanks for the hug, your family reminds me of my sister's whose husband is from NC!
Love that NC accent!

I'm procrastinating!  But wanted to thank y'all for your healing thoughts on my tooth/sinus.  Went to the dentist yesterday and it was my sinus.  My teeth were fine!  Which is good.  I feel 100% better.  Taking some amoxophillen and got the sinus rinse thingy.  It works great, plus, tylenol for sinus.  So hope I can get all done today that I need to get done.  The weather is cooperating, thank goodness.  Our daughter and family are supposed to be here this evening and stay through Saturday.  Then our other daughter and gd will arrive Saturday.  At least that's the plans for now.  Definitely have to feed these folks.

AnitaMartina, we have a southern Christmas breakfast that is a tradition. Think Cracker Barrel minus the potato casserole.  We changed it a little since some of the family isn't always here Christmas, so I think we will have the breakfast tomorrow morning.  Christmas eve we are invited to church with our son and family and then over to his house for a little gathering.  Wish I was close enough to the Anglican Church in Spartanburg.  I miss Christmas Eucharist.  Even though I'm Baptist now, I'm still Episcopalian at heart...  Also have to get some eggnog to toast my dad Christmas morning.  Gee, I miss those who have gone on ahead.

Elaine, sorry you will be alone on Christmas.  I'll be thinking of you.

Enough putting off what has to be done.....I'll never get it all done, I know.
