So here is my question? When you are attending a concert, do you prefer to stand or sit down? Do you care if others are standing up, dancing and having a good time? I am wondering this because we like to dance and have a good time but at a few concerts before there were sum people who asked us to sit down.

I don't mind standing but I'm old and it's a bit tiring but I'd do that for Alan.  However, when people have paid high prices for the front row and you and a crowd of people are standing in front of them blocking their view. that is downright impolite and you did NOT pay for that privilege.

if you are just in the aisle dancing, It's great for us to watch.  I'm too handicapped to do it but would not mind as long as you were not blocking my view that I paid for.

What do others think?  just my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find myself standing a lot  just as I find people around me doing the same...However, there are people who like to sit or have to sit.  When those in front of them are standing, it blocks their view.  Sometimes those people will yell for you to sit down.....and I do understand why one would not want their view blocked when they've paid for a seat.
At  the same time, I'm always so excited and love the music so much, I find it difficult to remain seated....just have to stand and "move"  with the music.

SO, I PREFER to stand during most of  Alan's concerts, but am very aware and conscious of those behind me and their view.....I don't want to offend a fellow Alan Fan......we all are there to enjoy AJ!  So, go with the "flow"......

The funny thng is there was noone in back of me...these were the people sitting a row behind us to the side.we wasn't even in their way.  I alwyas thought it might b a good idea to have a designated area in the arena for people who wanna dance and another for people to sit and enjoy the concert cause I do understand we all enjoy the concert in our own way.

We have sat on front row at the Ryman( to the side) and there was no problem since they were filming it.. We also sat on front row(Just lucky) at the Ryman and only those making photos were in front of us. They returned to their seats promptly. This was a while back, however.
Some dance & clap in the sides of seating or down the Aisles, unless the security stops it.I might dance with Hubby in the Aisles, if it had been a Special occasion. I'm glued to THE Performance & want to hear Alan & The StaryHorns always.I think it shows respect to not block others & also to the Singers also.
to each his/her own.

At casinos guards seem to keep the people seated to not obstruct the view. You can pay more for those seats.
Alan's Fans are some of the BEST, most are nice and no bad language or noise.I love to get up at the end of
a performance and give Alan & The StrayHorn's a standing ovation!

Countrymusicboy, just adding my two cents. I do enjoy standing up and doing a little dancing as well at Alan's concert and as some others here have said, I'm also always conscious of the the people sitting behind me. . .and my family. If everyone or most everyone are standing up I'm inclined to do the same. And when everyone sits down, I do too. Lately I have made preference to doing my standing and little bit of dancing. . .along with hand clapping. . .on the outer/side aisle, that way I don't block others' view. I do have lower back problem so standing too long is a no-no for me so I do sit down every once in a while. But I do not let people blocking my own view ruin all the fun for me while I'm sitting down resting my back. I can still hear Alan singing and see him a little bit from the gap between two people infront of me. The ones that really irks me are the drunks who always manages to ruin some of the fun for everyone. All the number of times my family and I have been at Alan's concert the experience has been good as far as the members of the audience are concerned. We've been to other concerts as well, including George Strait's and there's always seemed to be one thing or another that happens that causes distractions during the concert. I guess Alan's fans are a little bit more conscientious than others. I would admit, though, while my family and I enjoy being at Alan's concerts, after our experience attending one at a basketball arena (I forgot what they call it), we're not going to be there again. Suffice it to say the experience has not been too great.

Just want to clarify one thing here in regards to the front row sits. Unless it has change, not everyone at the front row paid for front row tickets. For many years since Alan came to fame, the front row sits are reserved either for front row ticket contests winners from the fan club and country radio stations or young fans or members of the audience whose tickets are exchanged by members of Alan's crew, his tour manager included, for the front row seats, as they enter the concert area in the venue. . . and most if not all of them hardly sit down and sometimes becomes a distraction themselves. . .or both. I've heard quite a few whose tickets are for much higher levels (200's, etc.). . .many fans from the previous forums here had complained about it to no avail. I don't know now that VIP ticket packages are available, if those people that buys them gets one for front seats. But even so, I think the majority of those getting seated at the front seats are those lucky young ones whose tickets has been swapped for the front seats.

So stand if you must, just be aware and conscious of the people around or nearby you who you might inadvertently block the views of and may not be too please about it. . . .many people have legitimate reasons they remain sitting down and not by personal choice. If you're seated close enough to the side aisle, go and do your standing and dancing there. Everyone involved will feel better and you'll end up having lots more fun.

I like to stand and dance - I try to stand out of the way if I can but it's a concert not church.  You shouldn't have to sit if the spirit moves you.

If your on the floor at a venue I find you are standing up to sing and dance!   Now at the Merlefest....everyone sat and sang till the encore, we were up on our feet with respect.   I like both!

stand and sit down when feet get tired .   sometimes sit down awhile so others can see.     we have been to a few venues that the security do ask you to sit down   if not in first 3 rows  they let first 3 rows stand and if you further back then the 3rd row  security ask you to sit down

I prefer to have a great seat, then I can stand up at times if I want. I try to be courteous to all around me.
