Morning everyone, still strange weather here, only got to 102 yesterday and for August that is cool, it's usually WAY over 100 in August here.

Sharon, Yes, California has a lot of fires.  Mainly because we've been in a drought for about 9 years now.  We do have a lot of forests here and a lot of the fires are started near main roads from human errors and from lightening.  Your train trip sounds like fun.

Sue, your boating trip sounds like it was perfect.  How special to be able to watch wildlife from your home. My sister, who lives in the major metropolis area of OC has raccoons come into her back yard.  It's strange since there is absolutely no rural or open areas anywhere near her.

Elaine, you're so right, the youngin's know so much more about computers than we do.  Sara helps me with the things I don't know.

Harriet, I'm sure you're right about there not being an Atlanta date this year but we can still hope...LOL

Jeri, hope the hurricanes are kind this year and stay away.

Sara got fantastic news yesterday but she is really stressed out now.  She was suppose to start the nursing program at our local college in the fall of 2010 but they called yesterday and said they have an opening for the spring and she needs to take the 2 classes they require the semester before starting the program, this semester, which starts next Monday.  We're scrambling to find the books, etc plus she has applied for a really good job at a school district which it looks like they will want her, which is wonderful if they will work with her new school schedule.

Hope everyone has a great day.

at three inthe morning their big dog woke us up.
It sounded like someone was trying to break in
Here it was a racoon and the dog was trying to
chase it off the deck.Scared us to death.Hope all
works out ok for Sara.
Had my hair cut and today Georgie is getting his
cut.It is up in the 90 this morning.

Hi Folks. It is muggy & humid here- like the Tropics.

Sue- Got my color in to my signature- thanks for your help.

Terry- that's wonderful that Sara is getting in Nursing School earlier. She will always be able to find a job & hope she loves the work like I did. It is very satisfying to help other people.

Elaine- that racoon really gave you a scare. I'm glad you have dog.

Getting rain this afternoon and it has really cooled down - low 70's.

Terry - congrats to Sara!

Jeri - hope the hurricanes miss you this year.  Bill is looking like a big one, but they aren't sure if he's going to hit land.  Hope not!

The pictures from the Scandinavian concerts are amazing.  Fun to see the perspective from the stage - that has to be an awesome feeling for the performer.

This is too cool, Sara works at Chili's in the Barstow area and she called and said Trace Adkins is staying at the hotel across the parking lot.  All his buses are there.  Trace played a round of golf and just got back to the hotel.  The band is at Chili's having "happy hour" with the staff and Trace should be there by now because when Sara called about 20 minutes ago she said Trace was coming there for dinner and is bringing them all Cd's, tee shirts and tickets to a concert.  Sara got off work at 3 but hang around for this.

Kathy, are you uploading the picture from a picture sharing site like Photobucket? If you are you might have thar http// part in twice. If it is in twice erase one of them- that happened to me & as soon as I erased one the picture came up.
Hope this helps.

That is so neat Terry!  Did you have to restrain yourself from going down to join them at Chili's?

Hello, AJ Friends!

Well, hubby finally got the good news he's and we've been waiting for to hear and soon. He's finally been hired by a VA health care center. And we couldn't be more happier that it's one of the two VA's close. . .or relatively close. . .to his family. The VA Health Care Center in GA is opening up a clinic in the suburbs of Atlanta next month and hubby had been asked to report there in 4 weeks. There's one pro. . .aside from it being another permanent job for hubby. . .and 2 cons with this situation, however. The good is this comes with promotion to next pay grade level. . .hubby has been on GS11 (those of you who have been employed in any Federal agency would understand this) for over 5 years now and, finally, with this new job he's starting at GS12, which, of course, comes with sizable increase in income, the other good thing. The bad is, much like our move here in MS, our moving expenses will not be covered and that could hurt our finances a bit. But just like hubby said, we'll manage somehow. Then, of course, there's my upcoming surgery. I'm not sure that I will be recovered enough to handle the chores and stresses of moving again. Hubby had requested for the 27th of next month to report to work there but they want him to try for the 20th. Guess I'll just have to take it real easy and get myself completely rested the next 2 weeks after my surgery. We're so looking forward for this move. Thank you all for your prayers in regards to this.

Harriett, I thought about you when hubby called me this morning about this. After we get settled maybe we could get together? That would be nice. Thanks for the info on the latest issue of the CW. Appreciate it.

Terry, congrats to Sara. I can feel her excitement seeing Trace. Happy for her on both. Thanks for agreeing on doing me the favor I had asked of you, re: surgery. Appreciate that very much.

Jeri, prayers from me too for the hurricanes to stay away from Florida. One experience is enough for us. Hope we don't have to go through another one here before we make our move to GA. Stay safe.

Hi, Sue, Kathy, Elaine, JeanB, Dee, Caz and everyone else not have been mentioned.

Take care all.

BHR I am glad to hear that you will be moving to the Atlanta area. But you need to recover from your surgery & there will probably be a limit on lifting. I will PM you my address & phone number & e-mail Addy. Let me know when you know what part of town you will be living in. Maybe you & I can make a trip to Newnan someday after you recover from surgery & moving. You've got a lot ahead of you.

Congratulation BHR on your husband's promotion and permanent position.  Like Harriet said, just take it real easy, that's most important.  Hope you'll have someone to help with move.
