Alan's going to be in Atlanta, GA on Oct. 6. Anybody going? Just checked. . .the ticket price for best seats is $79. Alan's hometown's radio station, 101.5 Kicks, is having a pre-sale on June 21st. The fan club's pre-sale is on June 23rd. Would love to be there but I don't know if I'll be able to afford it this time around. Will try my best, though. Certainly don't want to miss this one.

Dot, it's my understanding that at every Alan's concerts rows 2 - 25 on the Floor section are reserved for the fan cub members who buys their tickets during the fan club's ticket pre-sale dates, so, I would guess that those rows are untouchable to any ticket sellers. When Alan did a concert at this same venue (actually located in Alpharetta), my family and I, along with some fan club members, got seats in the PIT section, the closest rows of seats to the stage. If my family and I are able to go to this coming Atlanta concert, I hope we'll be able to get PIT section tickets again. Other fan club members were at the Orchestra section. Well I hope all of you get to see him in Atlanta Georgia, that want to.  He is coming back to Canada in September for two nights.  I am going to the one show.  I would love to go to both of them, but it does get expensive.

Anita, I hear yah I was hoping to go to both shows but Alan's tickets for his Sept concert are $50 more than when I say him in April, smaller venue I think that is probably why.  Plus my husband wants to come this time to see what all the HYPE is about, I usually go with girlfriends and then I only have one ticket to pay for.  If my husband wasn't coming I would go to both!!!

Yes I am not sure who I am taking yet.  I usually do take my husband, but he might not care to go this time because we just went in April to the London Show.  So I might bring my sister.  We will see.  The show at the casino last time wasn't as much as it is this time.    I don't know.  But if they keep putting the prices up, people will stop going.  The economy isn't as good as it was and people might not spend the money on entertainment as much as they used to.  I was thinking about both shows, but like I said I went to his in April.  I saw Johnny Reid in May and next Tuesday I am going to see Neil Diamond in Toronto at the ACC. Now everytime I have seen him, he never has an opening act.  He does the whole show, which is about 3 to 3-1/2 hours long which does not include an encore.  He does not take a break.  When he comes back for an encore, it is never one song.  It is usually 3 to 4 songs.  A few times, he would come back for more than one encore.  But he is 71 years old, so I am not expecting that as much.  We always enjoy ourselves at his concerts too.

Anita, you're welcome, again. :-) I have to agree with you on the ticket prices. I'm sadden to say that my family and I won't be able to see Alan this time around basically for that reason. I'll be able to afford the ticket if I go alone, but, I don't drive so it's a family affair. We enjoyed Alan's concert at that Atlanta (Alpharetta) venue last time he had concert there in 2010 and especially liked the venue. . .it's an outdoors venue but the sections closest to the stage is covered or have a roof. The parking area is the least to be desired but the venue itself is nice. The tickets didn't cost us as much as it would this time around so it has become problematic for us to be there again this time. The tickets were US$59 each then and now it's US$79. That's US$20 more! And with the price of gas the way it is (it's about an hour and 15 minutes drive from where we live at, depending on the traffic), although it's dropping slowly, it is just not feasible for us to be there. I surely would miss seeing Alan's show. I hope it doesn't happen, but, I have to think also that attendance at not just Alan's concert but other country music artists' concerts as well will shrink if they kept on hiking up the ticket prices.

I keep thinking back when we attended Garth Brooks concert in Seattle, WA (we left WA 4 years ago) and the kind of fun all the fans who attended had even standing in long lines to buy the tickets. . .we made lots of friendships with the  people waiting in line with us. The deal was rubber/plastic bracelets were given away the week before the tickets sale date and only those that were able to get one was allowed to buy the concert tickets. GB was supposed to do only 3 shows, I believe, but his popularity was just so that they added 2 more shows to it. The tickets were sold at US$17 each  plus service fee and sales tax, which totaled to about just US$20 each. Everyone went crazy and there were long lines at all Ticketmaster outlets in WA. It was quite an experience and we enjoyed his show tremendously especially seeing there some of those same fans who were in line with us when we were buying our tickets. My point here is, fans are more likely to buy concert tickets if it's affordably priced and they will have more fun being at the concert because it didn't hurt their pockets too much or at all to pay for the tickets and they get to see their favorite artist perform in person. Now, I realize no artists would want to be singing night after night after night. However, the high prices of the concert tickets are taking away some of the fun and excitement from the fans who are still able to buy their tickets and attend the concerts. And as you said, with the current state of economy it's getting harder and harder to afford it anymore. I get so envious of those who even travel from state to state or from other countries to see as much or many concerts of Alan's as they can manage or afford to go to. Btw, my husband also doesn't want to go much to Alan's concert now too that we're seeing him year after year since we moved here in Georgia. When we were in WA, he did concerts there every 2 years or so.

Hi everyone......especially my buddy Anita I met last year at the Oshawa show.  I am not going to the Orillia show because it does cost 50.00 more than at the larger venues.  Larger venues are about 100.00 and we fanclub members get excellent seats.  Smaller ones only hold so many so they have to make their money.  For my hubby na d I to go would be 300.00 for tickets, over 3 hour drive and a hotel.  I was lucky enough to see him in April so I hope I don't regret it when September comes.  Everyone enjoy your concerts with Alan!!!

Yes my total for two tickets came out to $296.50 Cdn. Which right now is almost par with the U.S$.  I was shocked that the tickets were more than $100.  Maybe it is not him who sets the prices.  It is most likely the casino.  They could be losing money so this is how they get some back. (hahaha)

Anita, when I went to Orillia ( Casino Rama ) concerts in May 2006, I paid $ 126.50 per ticket. Back then I thought it was really expensive, but I think all casinos all over the world always charge alot.

Anita, the artists, at least in country music, do not set the price for concert tickets. It's based on how much the venue management charges for the use of their facility for the events, to a large extent. After making educated estimate of EVERYONE"S (record label management, artists' managers, artists, etc.) share of the profit and adding it to the venue's charges they decide how much to price the tickets. This means, the higher the venue charges the higher, chances are, the tickets are going to cost. The size of the venue doesn't have much to do with either as much as it has the type of venue it is. Casinos are notorious for charging much higher prices. Sometimes I think we, the fans, in general, should go on a protest and stop buying tickets to concerts. Then, maybe, and just maybe, with the venues losing profits, they'll lower their charges for the use of their facility which would hopefully then traslate to lower ticket prices. Then, again, this could also backfire. :-)
