I haven't been on this thread for awhile either.  I always read, but don't reply all the time.
Having beautiful weather - a little rain this past weekend, but not too bad.
Computer issues are a real pain.  There are so many things to do on the computer and I think I would have to buy a newer, faster PC every year to keep up with the speed of things.  They are just like a new car, the minute you take them out of the store, they are obsolete.   I'll just plug along until it lets me know it doesn't want to work anymore.  I use Google Chrome most of the time, but I have to use Internet Explorer to download the monthly AJ calendar - weird.

So excited for Alan being inducted into the Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame.   YEEHAW!

Keep cool everyone!

Jeri do they have country singers in Sweden or
do they just listen to the U.S.A singers ?

Elaine, they do have country singers in Sweden but not so good as in Norway. (my opinion)
I saw a Norge singer on a festival in the Netherlands. His name is Ove Stoilen and his not bad at all!
I have a link with some videos: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWS3foQ3v2Y&feature=related.

My favorites:- Countryfied
                   - Tonight's The Night
                   - The European Highwaymen

Hello to everybody and enjoy.

Congrats to Alan for being inducted into the Nashville Songwriter's Hall Of Fame !!!!!!

Jean/B thanks.
I really didn't have time to ask them about music that much. she just told me she loved Alan's CD and
thanked me for it.
I really Love this Video of Alan's too.http://youtu.be/8GH9WDd_lQw . If Alan had done more of the acting in Video, It would have sold better, my opinion.. Love it and his voice sounds Great! I hope you can hear it.There were actors in the real Video.... this is a performance on stage by Alan..

The Video you posted sounds good too, it sounds a bit like Nashville Opry did years ago.. It has changed a bit now. I always listen to the Voice more and instruments used.. Alan is Tops here, to me.
You may have to copy this link in your browser to hear.. Enjoy..

HI FRIENDS, ITS BEEN A WHILE!  ENJOYING CATCHING UP WITH YOU AS BEST I CAN.  ITS NOT NEWS FOR SURE THAT ITS BEEN A VERY, VERY HOT SUMMER HERE IN THE DESERT...DO THEY REALLY NEED TO KEEP TELLING US THAT ON THE WEATHER NEWS???  LIKE WE CAN'T TELL?  BUT I MUST TELL YOU, I OPENED UP MY LIVING ROOM BLINDS VERY EARLY THIS MORNING, AND I WISH I COULD SHOW YOU HOW LOVELY THE SCENE WAS...THE SUN WAS HITTING "MY" PALO VERDE TREE OUT FRONT AND JUST BATHING IT IN A SOFT GOLDEN LIGHT, NOT THE HARSH WHITE, WHITE SUN THAT COMES LATER, EVERYTHING WAS JUST GLOWING.  WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR, IT WAS ALREADY WARM OF COURSE, BUT THERE WAS THAT HINT OF COOLER MORNINGS ON THE WAY.  MY GOODNESS, IF I HADN'T STILL BEEN IN MY NIGHTGOWN, I WOULD HAVE VENTURED OUT AND SAT ON THE PATIO JUST TO SOAK IT ALL IN. WON'T BE LONG NOW, I WILL HAVE TO HOSE DOWN MY CHAIRS AND TABLE OUT THERE, EVERY TIME A DUST STORM ROLLS IN THEY ARE COVERED.  ANYHOW, THAT LOVELY SCENE, EVERYTHING SO QUIET AND STILL, LIKE A BLESSING, YOU KNOW??

HAVE HAD TO HAVE SOME MEDICAL TESTS, RESULTS WITH DR. IN A COUPLE DAYS, YOU KNOW HOW THAT GOES.  BUT AT LEAST MY BONES ARE GETTING STRONGER, HOW ABOUT THAT!

GOING TO GRANDSON JAKE'S WEDDING UP IN SIOUX FALLS, SD, THE END OF NEXT WEEK.  HE IS GETTING HIS DOCTORATE IN ECONOMICS AT GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY, AND HIS BRIDE, LIZ, JUST GRADUATED FROM DENTAL SCHOOL.  YOU REMEMBER THAT SONG.."A KISS FOR LUCK AND THEYRE ON THEIR WAY..."  IT WILL BE A VERY FAST TRIP FOR ME, THE TRAVEL PART I'M NOT SO MUCH LOOKING FORWARD TO...FLY THROUGH DENVER BOTH WAYS WITH A RATHER LENGTHY LAY-OVER COMING AND GOING.  NO DIRECT FLIGHTS YET FROM PHOENIX TO SIOUX FALLS, BUT MAYBE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.  NOW, IF THEY COULD JUST GET ONE BETWEEN PHOENIX AND RAPID CITY, BECAUSE "WEST RIVER" IS WHERE I WANT TO ROAM!  I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER THE FEEDER PLANE FLIGHTS FROM DENVER IN TO PIERRE WILL BE OPERATING THE WAY THE AIRLINES ARE CUTTING BACK, BUT SINCE IT IS THE CAPITOL CITY MAYBE THEY WON'T ELIMINATE THAT, WHO KNOWS??  DECIDED AFTER A BIT OF SHOPPING THAT I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER GRAMMA-OF-THE-GROOM WEDDING OUTFIT...I WILL WEAR WHAT I WORE TO GRANDSON JOHN'S WEDDING, WILL NEED NEW SHOES FOR IT THO, THE ONES I WORE WERE EVIDENTLY FOR SOMEONE ELSES FEET, BECAUSE THEY SURE DON'T FIT ME NOW.  ANYHOW, I EXPECT TO DANCE WITH MY HANDSOME SONS AND GRANDSONS AT LEAST ONCE!

NOW YOU ALL STAY WELL, COOL, AND DANCING...SEE YOU SOON..

Jean, I am a big fan of Patty Loveless. Last year she put out her Mountain Soul2 album & won Album of the Year at the Bluegrass Awards. She also won a Grammy for that album. I have the album & like it a lot. Patty is the only country artist that I have met. She is really nice.

Attended my niece'a wedding last Sunday. It was beautiful & we had a great time. Her new hubby is a soldier in the U.S. Army. After some special training he will be deployed to a combat area. He has aleady served in Iraq & Afghanistan. So they had 2 day together & he is leaving tomorrow. Reality sets in. Buy they both looked so happy at the wedding. It was good to see that.

Jean-AZ- best of luck on your tests. Good seeing you post again. I do enjoy the weddings too.

Kathy- Good to see you post.

Elaine- so sorry you aren't getting to go dancing.

Arkansa Fan- Hang in there with the heat. Fall is approaching- my favorite season.

Jeri- My ankles swell & I take diuretics 4 days a week. It's really aggravating whn you can feel the fluid filling up your ankles. I sit with my feet up on an ottoman when watching TV.

It's still hot here. For the next 2 days the high will be 94. It's not as bad as Sherry has it in Texas where they are still having 100 degree weather. Just waiing for that Jet Stream to dip down.

So everyone stay cool if you can.

Sad he has to leave so soon.
Teresa is busy getting all of Kelsey's things together
for her school. It is keeping her really busy. Jess
found out yesterday she has to have braces on her
teeth. Boy are those things expensive.

HI everyone.  I also have not been posting much.  It has been a very busy summer.  It sounds like everyone is doing fine.  The summer has gone by fast.  It was my kind of summer.  Hardly no rain and hot.  Sometimes too hot for most.  It sounds like everyone had the hot summer.

JeanB, I heard about the stage that collapsed in Belgium.  It has been a bad year for that.  We had one in Ottawa and I believe there was one in the States too. All in the last couple of months.

JeriMS - I am glad you had a great time with your relatives from Sweden.

I hope everyone will be safe along the trail of Hurricane Irene.

I have been spending alot of time with my grandson.  He is now 8 months and is adorable.  I enjoy being around him.    Two of our nieces are having babies. One is due at the end of October and the other at the start of November.  I have been knitting baby blankets for them and for a friend at work who is expecting this fall in November too.

At the start of September, we are getting landscaping done at the front of our house.  We are tearing out the driveway and having interlocking done on the  edging and at the top of the driveway and then repaving the rest of it  Putting sidewalks along both sides of the house.  We are going to have a sitting area done in front of the house and gardens done inf front of the sitting area.  I am looking so forward to getting this done.We spent alot of time getting quotes from landscapers and sketching out what we really want.  Next year my husband and I will do the back together.

Well I better go.  Take care and hoe to get on here soon.

Anita you had a much nicer summer then we did.
We had only about three weeks of hot weather
this year.Once your landscaping is done is sounds
like it is going to be so nice.
Went out to dinner with Teresa and the girls Friday.
Enjoying seeing Kelsey as this is her last week at
home then off to school. We won't see her again
until Thanksgiving.

Harriet, the wedding sounded wonderful. I'm sure God will carry her through this time and He will come back to her.
I have gone through this when first wed too, Just keep the faith & try to stay busy, like her new Husband will be..

Elaine , your Teresa sounds like my daughter..She came over so tired for a visit after shopping for her girls school photos. Lordy, the prices have changed since They were in school. They are so beautiful you hate to send them back but 3 to 5 Hundred is too much..we got the best ones and can go to another photo Studio that does them better.. ha!
Lordy I know what you mean about braces, our insurance paid for our daughters but her's wont for my grand Girl, so Guess what, I am paying for them LOL. Love my grand girls so much, they are such great students, one is in Gifted, the other straight A, and wants to go to a good school. wont we miss them when they go! My son got teared up , taking his son to school, first day ha we have all been though those times.

Anita your landscaping sounds like I have wanted for my back yard, Right now we are trying to update our home, but we break for Alan's September date LOL. Yours sounds nice..Later guys, Jerrie
PS- Jean/B Patty Loveless is singing . i think she may be involved and inspired w/this Hank Williams project they are working on.She is still singing great. Love her voice !

Hello to All. Would like to report that Nelle is safe in her home on Staten Island but she does not have power. She sent me an e-mail yesterday morning using some of the battery power she had left on her laptop. I put this info on the Hurricane Prayer Thread too.
It is still hot here. Today's high is 95 & 90's forcast for all week. Really tired of hot weather- the only improvement is the humidity is down some.

Jeri- Thank you for your encouraging words. I don't know how long Duncan's deployment will be but his last deployment to Afghanistan was 18 months- Yikes! I know he will probably come home safe but at the same time Afghanistan is a very dangerous place. He takes it all in stride & does what they tell him.

Anita- You sound very busy as usual. At least you don't have time to get bored.

Elaine- My nieces & nephew have to pay a lot for those school pics too. I think You & I grew up in a simpler time.

Well I am encouraghed in the last few days that Alan's song is making some progress. Looking forward to the new album in the Fall.

Jeri I remember those days when my kids
first started school. Now I am going through
my grandkids going off the University.Kelsey
leaves on Thursday.
Harriet glad the humidity is not so high there.
That makes it so much worse.
Todd phoned him and Deb are going to Los Vegas
on Tuesday and getting married on Wed. It made
me laugh when he said she has been my girlfriend
long enough. They have been together since 1998.
They tired to get the families to all come down with
them but always someone couldnt make it so they
decided to do it on their own.
