ALAN JACKSON DEBUTS HANK WILLIAMS SONG AT COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME (07/29/11)
Alan Jackson gave a very special performance at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville yesterday (Thursday, July 28th) as the facility announced expansion plans that will more than double the building's size by the year 2014. Alan's appearance included his first-ever public performance of "You've Been Lonesome, Too," a song that will be featured on the upcoming album, The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams.

Alan tells us: "I hadn't sung it since we recorded it in the studio, and it's taken a few years for this album to surface, but now that it looks like it's got some legs under it and the Country Music Hall of Fame is really excited about it and getting behind it and using it as part of their Hank Williams tribute here at the Hall of Fame, it's cool to be able to come here and sing it right here where all of this history is and to do it live for the first time in such an important place that Hank helped make."

Alan shares writing credit for the song with the late Country Music Hall of Famer, having completed the song from lyrics originally penned by Hank. The Lost Notebooks of Hank Williams features various artists and will be released on October 4th.

Alan said, "I never thought I'd end up writing a song with Hank Williams. It'll always be something I can look back on and one of the coolest things I've ever done."

Alan is currently climbing the charts with his latest hit, "Long Way to Go."

The song is the first single from his next album, planned for release sometime this fall.

The music video premiered over the past week on CMT, GAC and online.

Somebody, thank you for sharing this with all of us here. Loved and enjoyed listening to Alan talk about his performance of "You've Been Lonesome Too" at the CMHOF event last Thursday. Doing some Googling the other day, I happentance on an article/review of the upcoming Hank Williams (Sr.) project album that was spearheaded by Bob Dylan. The reviewer is/was critical of the artists chosen to complete and record HW's uncompleted songs writen on a lost notebook found back in 2007, I believe. He noted that Alan did not have the type of talent that would be good for trying to represent the soul behind a Hank Wiliams song. I was flabbergasted reading that comment, to say the least. I will just spare you all and not post the link here.

To everyone: Here's the direct link to the article that Somebody posted above where the connecting link to the audio is attached below it (scroll down a bit):

NOTE: To listen to Alan's commentary, you have to have REAL PLAYER already installed on your computer, as I've found out. Didn't have one installed on my computer so had to download and install it. Any of you who doesn't have REAL PLAYER installed on your computer, here's the link where you can download it from:

Thank you BHR.   It was great to listen to.   Thank you for not posting the reviewer or ?, saves me bouncing off the walls for awhile tonight.   No artists other than Alan and George Strait stick to complete true original country.   Writer needs to learn more before he writes.

I would have loved to hear Alan do that song.. Alan finally got his chance to write a song with one of  his favorite Singers
and that is so wonderful..I can't wait to hear this Album and hear all the Singers on it.. especially Alan Jackson.

I think it's an honor for Alan Jackson, Bob Dylan and Norah Jones to be asked to do this . They are all great Songwriters!
Congrats to Alan! Jerrie-MS

Thanks so much for sharing. I get so upset when I hear someone saying anything negative about Alan....he is such an awesome person/performer/songwriter, etc.  That person apparently didn't know what they were talking about.
