Somewhere I read that the release date is June 27. It might be on this site. If you look at my thread about radio adds & spins you might see that some stations are already playing it. Here in Atlanta they are not playing it yet.

Harriet, that release date is for purchase/download. It actually has been released to the radio and if my knowledge of how these things goes is correct, it's pretty much the radio station's decision when they wanted to start playing the new singles once they've received their copy of them. Can't wait to download it from iTunes and hear it from the radio. I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!!!!! I've been playing it from You Tube. THANK YOU, ALAN!!!!!!!

It's great that Alan has new music coming out to radio at last.  It's been a while, funny that he and  George Strait both came back with new music around the same time Smiley  Downloaded "Long Way To Go" and George's new one "Here for a Good Time" which is also awsome!

Just a shame no other singles came out from Freight Train.  Will be intresting to see how it does with the charts and radio play though as the stations seem to be into mostly pop music anymore.

Dizzy,
It's playing at a lot of stations now. WQIK has played it a good while. I asked Craiger to play it on Gator Country.  If you log in and are a Member of your local stations, anyone who votes on their local stations, this helps also, plus you can see what stations play it. Let's do as Harriet said and Request it also. Right now Gator Country gets so many calls, just drop them an Email for Requests. Love this Song and w/the new Video coming out, shot in Jupiter at the Square Grouper, it
will increase play. I already got the Song from I-Tunes, waiting for the video now!

DNR995, welcome to the AJ forum. I couldn't agree more with your sentiment on what's being played in the country radio stations lately. A fan here posted a link to a radio interview Alan did recently, probably you've listened to it ( http://wqyk.radio.com/2011/06/24/alan-jackson-talks-to-the-morning-show-about-mixing-country-and-rap/ ), where he was asked about the mixing of rap music with country music [i.e. Jason Aldean's song(s)]. I cracked up when he said it sounds like crap. Admittedly, it took me a second to actually get what he meant by that word (c for country + rap). But, honestly, it does fit the description of it, though. Yes, narration was and always has been part of country music from its inception, but not in the same manner/style as in rap and hip hop. And as for the pop mix, the new generation of country music artists seems to believe that as long as the songs they're singing are lyrically country flavored that they're country songs and, therefore, them singing the said songs are country singers. As my favorite line from the late Minnie Pearle states, words don't make a song a country song, and to me the artists that sings such popsy-rapsy songs are not REAL country singers either. . .they're all just a bunch of wannabes.

I downloaded both Alan's and George's new singles too and both love them also. They're just about the artists, along with Jimmy Buffet, ZBB, Ronnie Dunn, Toby Keith and Alabama, whose musics that I regulary listen to. Yes, it is sad that they didn't release more singles for the Freight Train album. I'm a little disappointed too that Alan's 34#1s album also was not promoted well enought and packaged a whole lot better than it was. Thanks for posting a comment/message here.
