HI FRIENDS, HAD SOME COMPUTER GLITCHES (AGAIN), AND FINALLY GRANDSON SPENCE HAD A WEEK END HOME FROM COLLEGE (ASU) AND GOT ME UP AND RUNNING AGAIN...I THINK.  HE ALWAYS ADDS SOME NEW AND WONDEROUS THING HE THINKS HIS GRANNY SHOULD HAVE..AND IT TAKES ME AWHILE TO FIGURE IT OUT!

HOW ABOUT MY MINNESOTA TWINS!!!  THEY WERE 16 GAMES BEHIND FIRST IN THEIR DIVISION, JUST 2 WEEKS AGO..AND NOW THEY ARE ONLY 6 AND A HALF...AND COMING ON STRONG.  DON'T I LOVE TO SEE MY BOYS CHASE EACH OTHER AROUND THE BASES AND CROSS HOME PLATE.  WOW, WHAT AGONY I WAS GOING THRU THE FIRST OF THE SEASON WHEN IT WAS JUST MISERABLE BASEBALL.  BUT GIVE THEM SUCH CREDIT, LOTS OF INJURIES TO THEIR MAJOR PLAYERS, AND THEY HAVE MANAGED A PATCHWORK LINEUP OF YOUNGSTERS THAT ARE PLAYING STRONG NOW. LOVE MY "BOYS OF SUMMER."  HOPE WE CAN GET UP TO MY HOMETOWN OF MINNEAPOLIS TO SEE THEM PLAY IN AUGUST.  ITS BEEN AN ANNUAL WEEK-END  GATHERING FOR ME AND SONS AND GRANDSONS FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW.

AND SPEAKING OF YOUNGSTERS, ISN'T THAT YOUNG IRISHMAN RORY MCILROY A BREATH OF FRESH AIR??  WHAT A BEAUTIFUL GAME HE DELIVERED AT THE US OPEN.  AND SUCH A PLEASANT, LOVELY PERSONALITY.  I HOPE HE WILL ALWAYS HANG ON TO THAT JUST PLAIN NICE-NESS.  THERE IS TOO OFTEN A SHORTAGE OF GENTLEMAN IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS.  I'LL BE WATCHING YOU, RORY!!!

AS MOST OF YOU MAY REMEMBER, MY SON CURT'S HOUSE WAS IMPACTED BY THE MISSOURI RIVER FLOODING IN SD, THE PIERRE/FT PIERRE AREA, WHEN I WAS UP THERE FOR GRANDSON QUINN'S HI-SCHOOL GRADUATION.  3 FEET OF WATER IN IT NOW, AND ONLY REACHABLE BY BOAT.  LATEST UPDATE FROM CORPS OF ENGINEERS IS THAT THE WATER WILL REMAIN AT THAT LEVEL TILL AUGUST.  THEY WERE ONLY IN IT 8 MONTHS, AND I'M THANKFUL I GOT TO SEE IT FOR THOSE FEW DAYS, THEIR DREAM HOUSE.  DISASTERS EVERYWHERE, HERE IN AZ FIRES CROPPING UP ALL OVER, AND SOME PEOPLE RETURNING ONLY TO ASHES.  BLESS THEM ALL.

GOING TO BE 113 DEGREES TODAY THE WEATHER MAN SAYS.  WHEN I LOOK OUT THE FRONT ROOM WINDOWS, I CAN TELL THE SUN IS WHITE HOT, BELIEVE ME YOU NEED A BOTTLE OF WATER IN YOUR HANDS AT ALL TIMES.  IF I HAVE ANY ERRANDS TO RUN I DO IT AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, EVEN THO YOU GO FROM AIR-CONDITIONING TO AIR CONDITIONING ETC...ITS THAT SHORT DASH IN BETWEEN THAT CAN GET YOU!

I HOPE ALL OF YOU ARE DOING WELL, STAYING COOL/WARM, WHATEVER SUITS YOU BEST.

Jean glad your twins are doing so well. Hope
they have a good season. Wish I could say
that about Rory but have heard some of his statements
in interviews and he has said some very unkind words
about different players.
We are having some really nice weather again today.
I am praying it will stay that way for Friday.

Jean-AZ I just wanted to let you know that I have been praying for your son and all of those affected by the flooding of the Missouri River.  We are so dry here in Texas - finally got a little over an inch of rain today - that I cannot even imagine what they are going through!!

It seems so strange the weather is different all over, fires or Floods. In Jax the smoke is so bad, most working outdoors wear masks.Prayers for all during this time.

So proud for your MN Twins! I know you love them!
Isn't it amazing how our grands can fix our computers , they know so much from starting off on them.So proud you have
someone to fix yours. My grands show me how to do my new phone ha! Aren't they fantastic and bright!

Take care Jean, will be thinking of you and stay hydrated in the heat..

Hello, AJ Friends. I haven't posted in awhile- keeping busy. I would like to ask for your thought & prayers for my niece who is getting married in August to her soldier. We have found out that soon after they get married he will go to Maryland for some training & then be deployed from Ft Campbell, Kentucky. We don't know yet where he is going. He has already had a tour of duty in Iraq & 2 in Afghanistan. She will not be allowed to go with him while he is having the training. She is also being tested for possible Rheumatoid Arthritis, And planning the wedding too. She has a lot on her plate & I have offered her my support. She is the sisiter of my nephew who got married June 4th. I know about the power of prayer & am asking for yours.

Jeri & BHR- I know you both understand this situation as the wife of a Military Man. Jeri, so sorry to see those fires on Florida.

Sherry- I see Texas is under extreme drought & hope you get some rain.

Jean-AZ-So sorry to hear of the flooding at Curt's house & sending prayers for him. So glad your Twins have taken off  & are doing better.

Kathy- That was great when the Cubs beat the Yankees in that first game.

Gwen- Don't have time for Facebook & can't believe people put all that information about themselves online. Guess I'm being pretty blunt but I heard a guy on TV say "Get out of Facebook & into somebody's face," It's a free country so enjoy it if you like it.

Elaine- Bet you & your SIL stayed busy.

JeanB- Absolutely Alan is Tops. I also like some of the other artists- Country Music is the best.

Sharon- Enjoy George Jones. I love him & his music.

Love to All.

Hariett,

I will keep your niece in my thoughts and prayers that things will go well with her fiance and also that she gets good results regarding the arthritis.    Also keeping you Sherry, Jean-AZ, and Jeri in my prayers with the drought, flooding and fires.  God bless you all!

Harriet, I will keep your niece in my prayers.
Thanks for the thoughts about the drought here in Texas.  We did finally get a little over an inch of rain on Wednesday.  It was the first real rain we have had since January!  It was wonderful, but unfortunately not enough to put out the wildfires that have cropped up here in southeast Texas.

Just a quick response here.

Prayers to all who needs it:
SHERRY, for more rain in Texas to help ease off the drought all of the people are experiencing there.
JEAN-AZ, to keep your son and his family safe and sound from the flooding and for the flood waters to recede.
JERI, to get well and be back to good health.
HARRIET, for your niece, to have a good medical test result and for comfort, guidance and peace of mind as her soon to be husband prepares to train for his next deployment. Yes, I do understand very much how she's feeling and my hubby has never deployed to war throughout his entire career in the military, but in a sense has been a part of it. He worked as a Mineman (his rate in the US Navy), the 'guys' responsible for building, testing and recharging underwater mines used in wars when and as needed. I'm actually envious of the tenacity and strength of these militarty men and women's spouses in dealing and coping with their spouses being deployed in war, most especially those with young children. Will 'talk' more about this later.

Speaking of my hubby, got to get ready to go out. We're going some place when he gets home from work, which is anytime soon. Prayers also to everyone else who needs it. Take care all.

Harriet,
Prayers for your Neice and husband to be.. Family can support the wives left behind so much..My husband was in Vietnam when I was pregnant..I thought I would die to leave him, but I made it fine.. with family support and lived in my own rented house. The others Wives of those leaving, give support also. we met and mailed packages to our spouses.
"He has been to Iraq "as you said, so he may not want to leave her, but they feel a kinship in a way to the other guys there. I hope he is in a safe place. My Sister's grandson is back from Iraq recently also and goes back to
who knows where. He can't tell, he is not in the fighting but on base, so there is danger all over.Sending prayers for your neice and her guy. He will be busy working my husband said, so Guys make it, but she needs to take care of herself to stay well for when he returns. I do understand what she is feeling and it's not easy but if I can do it, others can..I feel
for her and I learned that staying well is very Important also family and friends. He will be too busy to worry much.
BHR thanks for the prayers and from all of you. I have one more treatment at Mayo and I'm getting better! I could not post before.Prayers for all who need them-Hugs,Jerrie

Edited this-Just had to get back on to tell you that my cousin who lives in Chattanooga, TN said the Festival was great!
and Alan etc drew a big crowd. He was working but he heard Alan sing several Songs and it was good. He said had we come, we could have had his two back stage passes. He was working and couldn't stay until Alan ended. I do wish I had not gotten ill, Oh My! we can't plan those times. How perfert to see the Man back stage...oh well maybe soon..I have seen him once and it was a lifetime Memory..
Harriet, I'm like you about Facebook but My sister puts her full name.. even most post the children or new babies and to me that is private. I frankly don't have the energy to post there. Alan's Board is more Important to me..I miss Seeing Alan!

I do miss Terry,Sue and some of those I've met but they come in when they have time.Dizzy I hope you and your sis are ok, and the smoke is better now it seems, presently at least..Sherry take care in the fire areas, I hope you have no smoke like we did from the GA Swamps, they burn until we get rain, I guess. we are supposed to get rain every day and it is not enough..we are way below what our rainfall should be now..next will be rain and hurricanes , so we can't complain.

Had a wonderful lweekend. Kelsey looked so good
for her grad. Not often we see her dressed up like that.
We had rain when we were at the park taking pictures.
Felt so sorry for all those girls who were all dressed up
with their hair done. The bottom of some of the girls dresses
were so dirty I don't think they will ever come clean.
Kelsey and another girl were the only two who got sport
scholarships. Jeri the other girl got one to Jackson Florida for
track and field. She is a runner. It was so nice having Todd
and Deb home. Todds son came to the picture taking so got
to have a nice visit with him.

Elaine so sorry it rained on your grands Parade( so to speak) but I know what you mean about seeing them graduate. Congrats on your Kelsey getting a scholarship for track & field. They are probably limited in some States. That is Great!
Our grand is working all week at the Art museum, try to get extra credits , and she's already an honor student. I know what you mean about seeing them all dressed out in formals. They study and work so much, it's usually casual clothes, so those times are very special. we took our Grands out to eat yesterday when she got off work, It was raining but we
got in betweeen showers.I had just had the procedure done at Mayo and wasn't feeling the best but able to walk  in with them and have a nice meal. I had to wear a collar to hold my head erect and hold on to my husband's arm. I told him
they might think I was tipsy but the grands were with us, and we all laughed.
I hope everyone is ok. Dizzy hasn't been on in a while, I hope she is fine. Harriet I feel like you were before, this happened all of the sudden but it's taking time to go away with my vertigo. It could be worse..so I'm grateful. Nelle I hope you are ok and Betty, so proud you got to go to LP Field, sorry we could not..Jean/az and all of you take care!We watched Wimbleton the last few days, great game yesterday!later , Jerrie-MS
