Popular country music star Alan Jackson will return to play another show at the Ironstone Summer Concert Series on Aug. 26.

Representatives from the Richter Entertainment Group and Ironstone Vineyards announced this first show in the annual series on Thursday, but there are more shows to come.

Ironstone President Steven Kautz said REG and the winery are trying hard to deliver more bang for the buck in this year’s series, the seventh that REG has organized at the amphitheater outside Murphys.
“Our goal is to give customers as much value as we can,” Kautz said Thursday.

He added that there are several other acts that haven’t yet signed on the dotted line, but said the series is trying to package bigger acts in single shows to deliver great shows.

Bill Cohen, the publicist for REG, said the Ironstone venue was once again in the Top 100 of the Pollstar amphitheaters around the world in 2010. The Ironstone series ranked at No. 73 last year.

“All six seasons that REG has put together the series, we have been in the Top 100,” Cohen said Thursday. “The repeat performances (like Jackson’s) are as good an accolade as anything.

“This is a well-respected, well-established concert venue on the West Coast,” he added.

Kautz and Cohen said more show dates will be released as artists agree to appear here. Kautz said another country show and an alternative rock show are in the works.

Jackson’s show in Calaveras County two years ago was the biggest sellout ever at the venue that holds about 6,500 people. Tickets for his Aug. 26 show go on sale on April 27. The winery’s wine club members can purchase as early as April 23, Kautz said.

Concertgoers can watch ironstonevineyards.com or search for Ironstone Amphitheatre on Facebook to keep track of the 2011 series.
