12.02.2010Alan Jackson Earns GRAMMY Nomination as He Heads to Las Vegas for American Country Awards Performance & Honor
Nashville, TN – Superstar Alan Jackson won a GRAMMY Award for his powerful “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning),” and last night, the recent #1 smash “As She’s Walking Away” garnered a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for Zac Brown Band and Jasckson. Both of these songs, together with Jackson’s new single, “Ring of Fire,” are part of his just-released 34 Number Ones collection.
Spanning 37 songs in all, 34 Number Ones includes all of Jackson’s #1 singles to date. Indeed, it’s his enduring status as one of country music’s preeminent hitmakers that will find him as both performer and honoree at this coming Monday night’s American Country Awards. Jackson will be the recipient of the show’s first Greatest Hits Award, which pays tribute to an artist with an extensive catalogue of #1 singles, while also honoring the artist’s overall contributions to country music.
The inaugural airing of the American Country Awards will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, December 6, at 8 PM ET/PT tape-delayed, on FOX.
For casual or die-hard Jackson fans, his new 34 Number Ones package is drawing praise, with the Chicago Tribune lauding the release as “an excellent primer on why the man matters,” adding, “Listening to this collection of Jackson’s work reminds one why he’s now increasingly revered as one of the classic artists of country music, regardless of period.”
A four-star review in the New York Post declared, “This retrospective is a lovely tribute to a singer who started his career in 1990 with ‘Here in the Real World,’ and who continues topping the charts,” while All Music Guide cheers it as “the first of his compilations to really suggest the depth and breadth of his body of work, and it’s a tremendously entertaining listen to boot.”
