Here is the latest from Chet Flippo's "Nashville Skyline." He talked about Alan's new CD, "34 #1's. Chet Flippo brought up an interstesting aspect on Alan's album that should have been there but wasn't there and I'm more than 100% in agreement with him on it. I'm sure you all will be too. Some of the comments that follows are very positive. Read on. . . .

BHR Thanks!
This was great for people to still realize that Nashville is still suffering from that horrid Flood. It really made me angry in a way, that the press can cover stars and where they do & go but neglect coverage of a Hundred Year Old Flood in Music City. Young couples and old are still getting their lives back together. No matter how much money one has, to lose everything is so heartbreaking. I appreciate him mentioning this, since my son & family was directly affected by it. They are however, grateful to be alive. I'm sure It took away some of the excitement of Alan's new Gift of 34 # 1 CD's! at a very difficult time in Music City History..But we thank Alan so much for years of Contribution of great work! God Bless Him!
In a way, it's much like Alan is in his Life. It doesn't have to be flamboyant, to be Great work! His Fans Pay far less than a Boxed set would cost at a tragic time in Music City History. So we should thank Him, for being able to buy this wonderful music at prices, that the less fortunate can afford now. Perhaps in years to come, He can offer a Treasure of Music for those who like more Box sets. He's still young and "Miles to go before he sleeps".Thank You Alan for your GIFT!
BTW, I read that Garth Brooks will be appearing at the Bridgestone Arena still for the Flood, in December. You can look up the appearences @ the Arena.

Thanks , BHR, for the interesting article. I don't believe Alan would want his greatest hits to be presented any more fancy or dressed up than they are. Keeps the price of the CD affordable for all too. His songs are so good they are the prize in the package anyway.

Chet loved the music...so why is he judging the book by the cover. The CD (s) get the job done....even though we all love to have any picture of Alan on the CD.

Jeri, Harriet & Brenda,
First off, thank you for all your responses. This is in no way being in defense of Chet Flippo and his sentiment on how Arista could have done better with their presentation of Alan's 34 #1s album and is just my own personal opinion of the matter. I think what he was trying to say is that after 20 years of loyalty and very successful business Alan has given them and after everything Alan has accomplished in his 2 decades of career in country music, he is deserving of a show of gratitude and respect from Arista in the form of a boxset for his 34 #1s album. He is not by any means being judgemental of the appearance of the album itself but, rather, he simply felt that Arista could have done better, if not more, for it being Alan's last album under their flagship and have shown him some respect in that way. He also intimated this would have been a great opportunity for Arista to really have fully showcased Alan's music and his career as an artist, a songwriter and now a legend in his own right as a tribute to his successful country music career. Indeed, he have a wonderful life and career story waiting to be written and told and hundreds of pictures, trophies and other awards mementos that are testaments of his accomplishments that could have been shown in a book or literature included in the boxset.
As I've said on my previous post, I do agree 100% with everything Chet had stated. I don't think he's trying to disregard the affordability of the album to Alan's fans because I'm sure he realized that. There has been other country music artists in the past whose record labels released a box set at the same time also just the new album itself that is contained in the boxset. . .Garth Brooks and George Strait, to name a few. Arista could have done the same thing being this is Alan's last album under their label. In this kind of situation, the record label should not present their artists' final album how they think their artists would want it presented but how they want to present it in token of their gratitude and respect to their artists' loyalty to the company and the business they brought/gave the company. And I'm sure every country music artists out there would want and appreciate to have something like this so they can look back on how their whole career has been anytime they feel like reminiscing, or maybe wish to share the moment with their children, family or friends. I sure would love to have a copy of that boxset too.

I have come to the conclusion, now that I have the album, that the packaging is not great. Yes, we still get the music & that is the most important thing but I would have preferred a picture of Alan on the cover & more pictures inside.

BHR I agree with you. For all the great singing and writing he has done for the company they should have dug down deep in their pockets and made a beautiful box set keeping the price affordable. ALAN deseverd that and more. Take Care HUGS AND LOVE nelle
