Happy 4th of July, Everyone! As we all here in America celebrates ours and our country's day of freedom I thought I'll share with you all this article from CMT:

10 Prime Hits: Patriotic Country Songs:
http://www.cmt.com/news/country-music/1666736/10-prime-hits-patriotic-country-songs.jhtml

Excerpt:
"Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)," Alan Jackson
It is impossible to this day to overestimate the emotional impact that this song had and continues to have on the American psyche. In the wake of the devastation of 9/11, there remained a general hole in the center of many people's hearts. Alan Jackson filled that vacuum with this simple, yet eloquent song. Like many people in Nashville and across the country, I first heard "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" when he performed it live at the CMA Awards on Nov. 7, 2001. I was at the Grand Ole Opry House that night and still recall the enormous emotional upswelling in the house. I was on my feet and crying, and so was everyone around me in the house. I cannot recall a single instance of a song having the instant healing effect that "Where Were You" had. And continues to have. -- Chet Flippo

Have a great celebration, everyone, and enjoy the food, music and watching the fireworks show(s) in person and or on tv.

BHR,
I totally agree with Mr.Flippo on this one! This song the first time I heard it in Concert, I was at the GOO or Ryman and I cried Uncontrollably. I didn't care what people thought, as they were crying also. The song was very much a healing Song for me also. I mentioned this right after this Concert. It stands apart from most of the others this way.
Alan called it "a simple song"but one that touched  Hearts of thousands! It is one of my favorites of Alan's because it was sucha horrific time in History, for Our Beloved Country!

Happy Birthday, America- best country in the world. On this day I remember all the military we have lost in many wars. I'm sure it's bittersweet for their families.

I am also proud to see the Stars  Stripes flying anywhere.

Elaine,
I shall never forget how Canada seemed to feel for us when the horrific happened and the showing of love for the US.
I really appreciated that show of love and a lot of Canadians were killed also here.I still miss the Towers and Alan's song was very healing for us.That is why it remains one of my favorites. Toby Keith has visited our troops and his Songs I like too concerning this. Including Lee Greenwood and others, but this one penned by Alan had this healing effect, I can't explain. a good artle indeed.
