I watched a little of the CMT Awards Show last night --- mainly at the beginning when Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley won an award for the duet "Remind Me"  (which I really liked) and toward the end when Carrie Underwood sang "Good Girl" (mentioned as the No. 1 Country music song in the country now.  Excuse me, that is NOT country music !!!

I caught the last half of the show and watched on through out of curiosity as to which award Alan is going to be presenting. I wasn't surprised at all with the lack of REAL country music in the whole presentation. And as far as Carrie Underwood's music/video goes, I've never found her style to be that of REAL country music or what it should be. . .the traditional or close to it. She really should move on to the pop-rock genre as her music and video definitely are not representative of REAL country music. I know I'm sounding redundant here, but, I'm just so tired of both radio and tv country music programming passing up the current trend in country music as/for country music. Country songs are not solely based on the lyrics but how they're sang/performed. . .with a little bit of respect for the traditional. Mixing hip-hop, rap and pop-rock to it, in my opinion, is shameful and disrespectful. If these current new/young arists doing it wish to continue and keep their style, then they should create their own new music genre and leave country music alone.

Speaking of creating. . .and Carrie, she just created a controversy for herself. . .or what it could become as. She have just announced her support for gay marriages (possibly in response to Cheryl Wright's commentary during an interview on how no big country music stars has given her and her being gay any support). The responses to the news article in the forum section are mixed, but, a lot more fans went against her than for her. Read it here:
