First of all Ring of Fire is #46 on Billboard this week.

Here are where  Alan falls on some of Billboard's Year End Lists. Now I know you're all going to say he should rank higher but we have all these talented young & new artists that seem to dominate so I'm actually glad to see Alan on these lists. And of course he should rank higher:

Billboard Top 100 Songs:
It's Just That Way- #67
Hard Hat & a Hammer- #79

Top 50 Billboard Artists:
Alan- #35

Top 50 Albums
Freight Train- #34

I was baffled by the fact that he is not on the Top 10 Songwriters- I think that is a serious omission- Alan is a Master Songwriter.

Harriet,
Alan should be on the Top 10 Songwriters list.. and his Song " Red Bloodied Woman" came in @ 40 something and was
not a hit, my remembering. I loved this song btw.

Radio airplay is so important and the select few get played more. My station seems to play the ones it wants, no matter the requests etc and they remain my  friends..At least "Ring Of Fire " is playing but not that often..as I would like.

Thanks for the info on how Alan stacked up this year. It's difficult for me to understand the radio stations. One DJ told me all the tunes were programmed by computer and he had no say so. Another station has a request line and I get lots of Alan's songs played there. They are still playing Hard Hat and a Hammer (without my requesting) I think they are just waiting for another release. They are also playing Ring of Fire, but not so much.

Maybe he's on #11?
Congrats anyway Alan.

Thanks Harriet.

Thanks for sharing. I believe there was some serious oversight for Alan and Freight Train this year. Not sure if it was intentional or due to the fact that his contract was expiring.

Yes he is the greatest...songwriter and country artist both, in my eyes!!!!! Love him. Still waiting to get to meet him. Since the Cincinnati concert was cancelled, I have been so depressed about it, and so have the 3 friends I took with me. Still hoping and praying for a 2011 concert close to or in Indy.  Happy New Year!!!!
