1  General Category / Live Show and Tour Discussion / Chasin That Neon Rainbow!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! on: November 08, 2017, 11:41:45 pm
Cheesy Grin Smiley Wink   Yes!   What a fitting song to sing at tonight's award show!   We Rothrocks have always loved Chasin' That Neon Rainbow and feel the words tell Alan's story.  And to hear the whole song in its entirety.  What a treat!  Great job Alan and the Strayhorns.  Totally made this family's night!   And of course congrats to Alan for being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.  Well earned, well deserved.   Thanks for 28 years of music, song writing and entertainment.  It never gets old!!

Pretty bummed here.  Alan has not been close to this area in 2 years.  Not sure how that is sharing his 25 years with his east coast fans of 25 years around Phila.  But finally something a few hours away in VA and I could not get tickets because I couldn't find the code.    Sad Sad Sad
Very disappointed and sad.

5  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Look at Me - American Idol on: January 07, 2016, 01:04:26 am
One of the prettiest, most heartfelt songs I have ever heard Alan perform is Look at Me.  Tonight I was watching the opening credits of American Idol with Rachel and I was sure I heard two notes of the song being sung by a contestant. I said to Rachel, "that's Alan's song".  Sure enough about halfway through the show someone sang the song.  She did a great job and had a very pretty voice (I think her name was Sonika).  Harry said she might win the whole competition.  I was just bummed they cut it off before she could sing the last line of the chorus.  And I kept waiting for someone to mention Alan as being the artist who recorded the song, but not even Keith did. Anyway, I will be rooting for this girl, she has GREAT taste in music and song choice.
6  General Category / Live Show and Tour Discussion / Touring in 2016 / My Belated Christmas Wish on: December 28, 2015, 10:21:28 am
Here's a belated Christmas wish. I hope Alan adds some tour dates around eastern PA this coming year.

As most of you know my family has followed Alan since 1989, and have been to over 300 shows. This past year as he celebrated his 25th anniversary, we were very excited to celebrate along with him, and hoped to see him at least a few more times.  However for the first time in 25 years, Alan did not have tour dates near us.  It was very disappointing to know he was celebrating his 25th year and not get to go to a single one of his concerts during the year. And also surprising that he would not visit this area during that tour since there are so many fans here he has delighted with his music over his 25 year career.

So please please please Alan, add some dates in our area in 2016.

Thanks, Hope and the rest of the Rothrock family.

Happy Happy Birthday to my daughter Rachel.  She has always been our 'little bitty' girl.  But today she turns 21!!
We are going to celebrate in Atlantic City.  Just wish Alan had a concert here this year like he did last year.

9  General Category / Live Show and Tour Discussion / East Coast / Phila Area Concerts? on: January 11, 2015, 01:47:50 pm
I've been going to Alan's concerts since he started touring 25 years ago.  I am anxiously awaiting and East coast leg of this anniversary tour.  Hopefully around the Philadelphia area.  Although we will drive hundreds of miles to see him, so anywhere near this area would be great!    I'll keep peeking at the tour schedule!

Would have loved to see that myself!   Very fun thing to do for the crowd!

I was teaching Wednesday night and kept glancing at the clock thinking "Alan is performing again".  Wish I was like Samantha in Bewitched and could just twitch my nose and end up at the show!    So glad I was able to attend the first one.  It was such a special treat!

Sounds like a lot of us were on the road at the same time.  We left Tuesday afternoon but stopped because of severe weather that night.  We got to Nashville a couple hours before his show on Wednesday. We stayed in Nashville until Saturday morning. On the way home we took a different route up through Kentucky and into Ohio and caught a Tracy Lawrence show in Marietta, Ohio.  We got back home Sunday night too. It was long drive!!!  We figured it was almost 2000 miles in just over 5 days.   I am REALLY glad everyone had a safe trip down to Nashville and back.

If I had known sooner I was going, I would've gotten everyone's contact info. But it was a surprise for my 55th birthday and I barely had anytime to even pack since the weeks before were spent preparing Rachel for her trip to China.   Maybe next time we can meet up!

Happy Happy Birthday Alan.  I hope have a great day and get to share it with the ones you love.
My brother's birthday is also October 17th, so the day has always had a special meaning to me and my family too.
