 :)This small town southern woman met Alan at the Thursday night Brisbane concert and it was like a dream come true.  I have waited many many years to see Alan and the Strayhorns live in concert and flying from NZ was so worth it.  He was so soft spoken and we were rushed through the meet & greet but I have my photo and it has pride of place on my living room wall.  (And my face book page and my screen saver and my background).  I sang to all the songs and hearing "It's 5 o'clock somewhere" rocked me and the whole crowd, they went wild!!! I loved "where were you when the world stopped turning" because I imagined him singing it to the Christchurch quake survivors.  The Entertainment Centre was packed and alot of people were able to go and stand at the front of the stage (my husband included).  You Americans are so very lucky to have Alan as your own and I'm so very grateful he decided to visit us "Down Under".

It's a wonder you all didn't hear me when I won a m&g to the Brisbane 10th show, my whole building at work did.  I'm a Kiwi from a little town of 16,000 people, whoever dreamed that a little person would win such a huge thing!!!  Hope he sings "Where were you when the world stopped turning" and can dedicate it for all the Christchurch quake victims.

Thanks for posting your photos.  We Kiwis are flying over on Wednesday to see him in Brisbane on Thursday and can't wait.  It's been a long wait but I can see it is going to be well worth it.  Great he is supporting local Aussie talent what a star he is and a fantastic person.  Did any of you see Denise too?

So sad for Miranda we were really looking forward to hearing her but I hope she gets better soon.  No doubt hubby will look after her.

Well I haven't seen any names for Brisbane yet so fingers crossed we Kiwi's will win one too.

I'm lucky enought to have 2 tickets to Alan's Brisbane concert.  Are there any other Kiwi's going?  We need to talk if there is and make Alan aware that there is one more country further South!!!  Can't wait till March

What a fantastic story.  You are so lucky.  We went to Newnan in June 2009 and visited the Cracker Barrel there and the staff were awesome and told us Kiwi's their Alan stories it was great.  We were able to find a driver that took us for a visit to Alan's mums house.  We are hoping one day Alan and Denise will visit New Zealand for a concert and see our great country.
What a lovely anniversay present, you will remember it forever.
