DEAR FRIENDS, A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND BLESSED NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU.  THE WEATHER IS PLAYING GAMES AGAIN, ISN'T IT, DISRUPTING HOLIDAY TRAVEL, ETC.  HERE IN ARIZONA WE HAD A VERY "INTERESTING" DAY LAST WEEK, A HUGE DUST STORM CAUSED A FATAL PILEUP (INVOLVING 20 VEHICLES INCLUDING SEVERAL SEMI'S) ON AN INTERSTATE, AND AT THE SAME TIME, IN THE NORTHERN PART OF THE STATE AROUND FLAGSTAFF...THEY HAD A BLIZZARD, CAUSING A FEW MORE WRECKS.  DUST ONE END...BLIZZARD THE OTHER END.  GO FIGURE!  I HOPE THAT ANY OF YOU WHO HAVE TRAVEL PLANS, OR ARE EXPECTING FAMILY TO ARRIVE, THAT IT CAN ALL GO SMOOTHLY FOR YOU.  I TALKED TO MY SON TODD ON THE RANCH IN SD, AND THEY HAVEN'T HAD THE HEAVY SNOW YET.. BUT IT IS EXPECTED TO GET VERY, VERY WINDY BY TONIGHT, SO THAT SNOW WILL BE DRIFTING AND SIFTING, FOR SURE.  I'M ALWAYS RELIEVED TO KNOW EVERYONE IS SAFELY HOME FROM TOWN.  SO ALL OF YOU...BE SAFE, AND WARM AND WELL.

Jeri, thanks for sharing your Christmas tradition.  It sounds like you had great times.

The weather last night and today has been miserable.  Alot of rain and windy.  Our snow is almost all gone.

Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas and anyone who had to travel, I hope that you got to your destination safely.

On a sad note, I just heard that yesterday we had another Canadian soldier die in Afghanistan.  Their armoured vehicle was hit with an explosive.  This is the 2nd in a week.  My thoughts and prayers go out to their families.  I don't know what other countries do when one of their soldiers die at war, but we have part of the main highway here named Highway of Heroes.  When the bodies land in Trenton, Ontario, one of our military bases, they are transported in limousines like a funeral procession escorting with policeman from there to Toronto where they do the autopsy on the body, on this Highway of Heroes.   This would be about 120 miles long.    Many of us, stand on the bridge overpasses  and along the highway in each town and salute our soldier when they come through.  It is a very emotional.  It is very emotional to see this.  But at the same time to see everyone supporting the troops is wonderful.   I am going to attach a song that a lady from a town near me wrote and sang in regarding our troops  and you will see the Highway of Heroes.  I hope this works.

Anita I have always supported our Military. They take the punishment so we can live free. My niece is dating a soldier who has already been deployed to Iraq once & Afghanistan once. At our family Christmas party he did not want to talk about his job. He just came back from Afghanistan in the Spring.
I give to the USO & the Disabled Veterans. Hope these wars will be brought to a finish soon.

Anita, thanks for sharing that beautiful tribute to our heroes.  It was beautiful.  Sorry to hear that a young Canadian has lost his life for our freedom.

Wishing each of you a Happy New Year.

It's COLD!  I'll sure appreciate the warmer temps.  We had a wonderful Christmas with all the children here.  I just miss them so much when they have to go home.  Today is my gd's 18th birthday.

I need to get going and do some errands in town.  Y'all have a great day.

Anita I thought I saw on CNN that they were not
going to show the caskets being unload in the U.S.
I am so glad they are still honoring ours when they
come home.
Sharon Is is always hard to see our loved ones
go home after the holidays. I still have Todd and
Deb here which is nice since Teresa Jay and the
girls won't be home until the 8 of January
It is snowing but very fine snow so not much
out there.

There was a recent movie staring Kevin Bacon called "Taking Chance."  It is about a Marine escorting a fellow Marine home after being killed in action.  It is a very moving and touching story about what happens when a soldier returns home to the USA after being killed in action.  Check it out if you get a chance.  It is based on a true incident and is very close to factual.  Leslie
