Alan put on a fabulous show at the KY State Fair!!  He's always such a humble, sweet performer. Dot I was so happy to meet you and your friend, and it was an honor to hold up the "E" in your Good Time sign!!!  That was so much fun and I hope to see you again at another show. I hope Alan keeps coming back to the Bluegrass because KY loves him!!

34  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Re: Alan Filling George's Shoes on: May 13, 2013, 06:29:54 pm
Thanks so much Alanfan, I really appreciate that!  I just turned 30, and I am such a fan of the traditional sound. My parents and I gave always loved Alan's music, but we just love the humble person he is. My theory has always been why support an artist that thinks they deserve your support?  I sure don't want to spend money buying a cd made by a jerk!  Alan just writes and sings and appreciates all the extras that come with it.  I so appreciate the person he is!
35  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Alan Filling George's Shoes on: May 03, 2013, 06:11:19 pm
I have been reading some of the news articles from different outlets this week that covered George Jones funeral service, and there seems to be a common theme running through a lot of the reader comments.  Many people are saying the ball is in Alan's court to carry the torch for George and the legacy of traditional, real country music he left behind. Many readers said they believed Alan would sure be the one to fill those shoes. I was very pleased to see these comments because I truly believe Alan is the George Jones of my generation. In a day and time when country radio and video channels run the newer, hipper artists ragged, I'm glad to see people give Alan the credit he deserves for just writing what he feels and what he knows and singing it for the fans. I don't think anybody else could have sang that song at George's funeral. It was meant for Alan Jackson to sing. I'm a young one that has loved Alan since I was little due to the great music and the fact that he always reminds me of my dad!  I think they would get along great!  Country is more than tailgates, drinking all night and wearing cut offs, which you here a lot about these days on the radio.  Yeah there's some of that in country music, but it's about family and values and so many other deeper things that Alan has written about over the years. I just felt like getting up on my soap box a bit today. I sure don't like the direction a lot of the country artists are going nowadays, and somebody needs to show them the way. If not, nobody will even know about the awesome legends and traditions of country.
36  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Alan on the Billboard Chart on: April 04, 2013, 05:05:03 am
So glad to see that Precious Memories Volume 2 has debuted on the overall Billboard chart at #5 this week!  Alan Jackson is still selling tons of records, even when they are collections of old hymns!  Wonder why radio doesn't realize this?  I'm glad to see a country/Christian album right in the middle of a chart filled with rappers and rock stars. What a beautiful record. If you haven't got your copy, get one soon!

Whoo hoo!!  Got my tickets for Louisville on my lunch break today and I'm in section 12 row G!!  I know that might not be the best to some of you guys should have been on the front row before, but I think seven rows back is pretty great!  That's the closest I've ever been at a concert. I'm so excited to get to be around all of you great Alan fans!!

I did a little research and found out that the official lineup of performers for the 2013 Kentucky state fair will not be announced until June. We usually don't see anything come out about the fair until the summer months. I'm thinking Alan is probably going to be at the fair, but that announcement shouldn't have been made yet. I sure hope so because I will be there!

The Louisville date is not on the tour page anymore. Does anybody know why?  I got so excited about going to see Alan at the state fair!

Although I haven't personally witnessed the picking and seating of the younger people on the front rows at the concerts, I truly believe that it is a publicity tactic by management and promoters and not due to any decisions made by Alan himself.  I am 29 and have been an Alan fan for a long time.  As much as I truly love Alan and his music, he is not as popular as he was a few years ago.  I truly hate it because he is the best and truly relevant to country music today.  The younger crowd is looking to the newer, younger crop of singers with the pop/rock edge.  I believe this is a ploy to get younger fans to really notice Alan and his music again.  And, as we all know, younger, prettier and quite often scantily clad fans draw attention, whether it be good or bad.  I don't see this being something Alan would promote himself.  He is a class act that cares about his family and his children.  Also, it could possibly be due to the fact that he is under a new label that has all younger acts signed to it.  I hope that the fan club can relay all of these questions and concerns to Alan.  I'm a die hard fan and will always do what I can to support him, his family and career.  And it's because of fans like us that have a true appreciation for Alan and his music that hd is still performing and being successful today.  I believe he would agree because that's just the type of person he is:)&
41  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / New Single Coming Soon? on: January 02, 2013, 08:30:01 pm
Has anyone heard if they will be releasing another single from Thirty Miles West?  There are plenty more good radio friendly songs on the album.  I love them all and would love another chance to try and help get one on country radio.
42  General Category / Live Show and Tour Discussion / We want Alan in Lexington, KY! on: November 18, 2012, 08:13:50 pm
I saw Alan in Highland Heights, KY last night and he was awesome!  He is truly one of the sweetest and most humble artists out there!  I have been a fan for forever and saw Alan a couple of times before when he came to Rupp Arena in Lexington.  I'm hoping for another huge show at Rupp!!  Central KY loves Alan, and I know we could have a GOOD TIME if he came back!!  Bring Alan back to Lexington!

44  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Re: Just Got My Album in the mail on: June 04, 2012, 05:53:37 pm
I got my package in the mail today and absolutely love everything!  The CD is great, country music perfection.  "When I Saw You Leaving" made me cry!  What a beautiful song!  My favorite so far though is "Gonna Come Back as a Country Song".  I hope they release it as the next single.  I think country radio will eat that one up!  I'm just so thrilled the album is getting such good reviews.  Alan deserves it!
45  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Precious Memories on: May 13, 2012, 06:50:03 pm
I have had the Precious Memories album since it came out a few years ago. However I have been watching the special that was filmed at the Ryman for the first time on GAC tonight.  I have just absolutely fallen in love with Alan's versions of these songs all over again.  As a younger person, I love the newer country music and christian music but not as much as I love the traditional songs of both.  There is something about those old gospel songs that touches my heart and spirit so much.  I have sat and cried just watching and listening tonight.  As a christian and an Alan fan, I was so happy when he released this album.  If you don't have this one from Alan I encourage you to get it!  I don't know if Alan's family ever keeps track of the comments on here, but I have been so encouraged by Alan and Denise, their relationship and family and music.  I appreciate it them so much, and that is one of the many reasons Alan is my favorite ever!
