31  General Category / Off Topic / the strayhorns... on: March 07, 2012, 07:12:19 am
hi, alan's career so far has been a well deserved sweet ride. i dont think it would be the same without the strayhorns. they are an awsome pure country band just by themselves, and compliment alan's great singing voice and songwriting talent.... rickm.

33  General Category / Off Topic / maddona's superbowl halftime show... on: February 07, 2012, 04:51:57 pm
hi, sunday night like most americans i watched the n.y giants win the superbowl. im from n.y. state. i didnt pay much attention to maddona's halftime show, but monday morning on the news they said one of the singers did something obscene on national television. didnt see it , but why? first janet jackson had a " wardrobe malfunction " and i think last year when the black eyed peas performed there was a crotch grab by a male in the group. now this. is this what america wants to see at a huge sporting event like the superbowl? let a top country artist do the show ( one that i have in mind) he could get the place shakin with a couple of foot stompin hit songs. and im sure his performance would be whithout incident.  rickm.

hi,...roll call!  did any fans out there attend the 2000 fan club party? id like to know who the lucky lady is that alan gave one of his custom made cowboy boots to. what an awsome souvenir. he also gave a pair of wrangler cowboy cut jeans away that denise wouldnt let him wear anymore. that was funny. i had a great time and would like to go to a future f.c. party hopefully.

38  General Category / Off Topic / acm cma award shows...country or pop? on: January 21, 2012, 08:57:10 am
hi, maybe its just me being an old timer. when i watch the award shows on tv nowdays im disappointed at what i see. not all, but many newer artists seem to be crossing over to for lack of a better word country pop. if it wasnt for alan, george strait, and a few others i wouldnt watch. i dont think dwight yoakam even attends anymore. is it the record promoters? i remember years ago at an awards show alan sang chattahoochee when it was at the top of the charts. at the end of the last verse he leaned back, raised his custom made cowboy boot off the stage floor, and yelled YEAAHEEEE !.....THATS RIGHT.. the audiance went crazy. thats what i call country music. any comments ?

41  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / hank sr. and alan on: January 07, 2012, 04:36:57 pm
when i was a kid, my dad was a huge hank williams sr. fan. whenever he pulled the old gibson out of the case he would play a hank song.i always wondered how the music playing from those old cracklin mgm albums could have such a stronghold on his musical interest. back then their were so many great country artists to listen to and enjoy.well, times change but some things stay the same , cause alan to me is what hank was to my dad. the king of country for these times. cant wait to get "the lost notebooks " cd. has anyone heard any songs from it ?
