1  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Where to request on: October 17, 2012, 08:39:48 pm
Hi all, a while back, when I was requesting SYDHTLMA, someone posted where we could request the song in the major radio markets. Could you repost this, as I have lost the links?

The local station in Lafayette told me frankly that it does no good to request a song since they get their playlist from somewhere in Atlanta. That was WKOA 105.3. The station in Kokomo, WWKI 100.5 does play requests on its Cafe Country program every weekday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. I am so sick of the stations not playing true Country.  Sad Sad

I tried voting on the Bull, but it didn't seem to accept my vote. Any suggestions? Thanks for you help.
3  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / Re: GAC Top 20 Country Countdown "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore" is #-1 on: April 04, 2012, 02:38:05 am
I spoke to a DJ at WWKI in Kokomo, Ind. today because I heard Long Way to Go being played, plus a couple of other AJs songs earlier. I asked why they weren't playing SYDHTLMA and he said the rotation was not up to him but corporate in Atlanta, Georgia. He also said that listener requests, unfortunately had no influence on when and how often the song is played.

the station does have a Cafe Country request line from 11 to 1 every day, and he said that's the best way to get it played. He also looked at the play list and it was played at midnight last night and at 2 a.m. tonight.

It's frustrating that requests for the songs mean nothing anymore. Do requesting on these othere stations make any difference?

Thank you for the list. I wonder, when you have to put in your town and zip code, does it matter if it's half-way across the country?

Could you explain what the Pure 12 Pack represents and how it's different from the top 20?

Thanks for the info.

You know folks, I never got one answer to my question about where and how to vote for the new song. For us newbies, could you help us out with some info?

Where should we all be voting other than CMT and GAC? I really want to do my part. I do call and request at my local stations. One is playing some, but the other isn't at all. WWKI is playing it, but WKOA is not.

Could you explain what the Pure 12 Pack is? And how about the Featured Five videos? AJ was on the Featured Five and was #1 there a couple of weeks, but no more. How does that all work?

And is there a top 40 for Country? Where can we get that? What about the Crook and Chase Countdown? How do they determine that?

Thanks for any info.

Me, too. I am very excited to buy it, and a little anxious about his new single. It's not getting the respect it deserves. Do our votes really count?

Where are all the places we can vote? I know of CMT and GAC.

I am new to all this, but Alan Jackson is my favorite singer/songwriter/performer and all round gentleman/family man. Can someone explain to me why he's dropped off the CMT list already, while he is #1 on the GAC list. I must admit I don't understand the vast difference in interest.

Also, our local country station WWKI has a daily request line Cafe Country from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the week. JR told me for a couple of weeks, there were 7 or 8 people calling in for SYDHTLMA, and then this last week, interest seemed to drop off. I think this is one of his best songs in a long time.

I have been watching the CMT video, voting and voting on GAC. Is there anything else we can do?

This is all good, but when are they going to start playing this GREAT song on the radio? My local stations talk about rotation and the front office. I call in and request, but can't even talk to the front office. That's WKOA. WKII does play it on their daily Cafe Country request line when I call in, but not at other times. What can we do?

Thanks for the info on how Alan stacked up this year. It's difficult for me to understand the radio stations. One DJ told me all the tunes were programmed by computer and he had no say so. Another station has a request line and I get lots of Alan's songs played there. They are still playing Hard Hat and a Hammer (without my requesting) I think they are just waiting for another release. They are also playing Ring of Fire, but not so much.

January, thanks for the insight about why no further releases. I was sure hoping he'd release Freighttrain and Tail Lights Blue and the other single with LeeAnn Womack as singles. They are really fine songs. I sure hope Alan continues to make great music for us! I love his singing, writing and most of all his heart.

Grandmachelle   Hi this is nelle again. I wrote to you in the BUCKEYE post.   You don't have to play the video every time or as many times as you want and that goes for all ALAN'S videos that are all there.  You can only vote once a day, I think. I do it to show respect to ALAN and the beautiful way he sings that song and to show respect for his daughter who did a very clever video. I feel it also I hope, keeps his name on the list. It is on his new cd.   When GOODTIME was out I voted and played 5 songs and watched the videos.  It makes me feel that I am giving something back to the greatest singer/songwriter ever.           Take Care    nelle    Thank you again for voting.

Thanks for the info Nelle. It makes me feel like I am giving back, too, to one who has give so much. I plan to buy another Freight Train CD for a gift for a friend who likes him, too.
