CONGRATULATIONS, ALAN, on your induction to the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. A very well deserved honor. Wish I could have seen your induction and yours and Keith Stegall's performances there. Looking forward to your new and upcoming album. Keep your REAL country music coming! Congrats to Bill Anderson too!

BONUS NEWS; It's been announced last month that Alan's nephew, singer/songwriter ADAM WRIGHT (part of the duo, THE WRIGHTS, along with his wife), is releasing an album of his own songs, "DUST", on June 22nd. Adam had written Alan some songs recorded in his album to include, "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore", I have been planning on posting this sooner for those of you who may be interested in getting a copy of this album but family and medical issues had kept me away from less important things to do.

Guess this answers one of my wonderings. Alan is doing a collaboration of "Chattahoochee" with Jon Pardi at the ACM's. He also did that with Cole Swindle at the CMA's last year. Yes, that was a big hit for him, but, why couldn't they have picked another song, like, "Don't Rock The Jukebox"?

As posted at the homepage, it has just been announced that Alan will be performing at the 2018 ACM Awards Show to be aired live April 18th at 8:00pm/ET on CBS network. I was not planning on watching this show until this announcement today. Could this be the start of Alan's public promotion of his new album? And will they be surprising him with an unannounced honorary award since they never had honored him ever with an Entertainment Of The Year award that he richly deserved for years? Just wondering.

Looking forward to watching him perform on tv again.

Jdub, sorry I'm just responding now. I will be sending you a PM soon. I have no idea when Alan's new album is coming out, though, I seemed to remember a mention of it going to be sometime this year, I believe. Can't wait for it too.

Dee, the list of the '90s songs to vote from is there (second link). You have to scroll a little further down. It has Alan's photo on the background. You just click on the song from there. Once you've voted, you won't be able to vote again, but, you can put another vote using your cellphone. again you'll be able to vote only once. The list to vote from will be replaced with the photo of Diamond Rio, I believe, with a small arrow on the right side. You click on that arrow and it will take you back to the votes result list. Also, that poll will be followed by another poll, if you wish to continue responding to their polls.

Hey, there, AnitaM, yes, I do remember you very well. Glad to see you posting here again. Yea, it's really a shame that they found Garth deserving of getting inducted at any of the three Hall Of Fame he was inducted in (Songwriters, Nashville Songwriters and Country Music). I have a feeling that money played a big part on it. Thanks for agreeing with me. Come back and visit us here again. Take care.

GO, ALAN!

Deloris, welcome to the AJFC forum. I echo what Jeri has said and the links to your venue and their seating chart are below. I would just like to add couple of things. One, basing on the age you gave, if you are a hearing aids user ( I am), make sure to bring you a travel case or something you can temporarily store your hearing aids as you may find the loud sound projection at the concert a little too hard or harsh in your ears and your hearing aids may respond with ear splitting feedback (I had that happened to me). This is, of course, depending on where you will be seating at and especially if you're going to be at the PIT Section. By, the way, the PIT section may or may not have chairs to seat on. It varies on venues. On the seating chart, you'll be able to see how close the Floor Section seats are to the stage by clicking on the camera icons.

Secondly, as stated on your venue's website, only point and shoot type of cameras are allowed. That includes digital cameras with no interchangeable or removable lens, your camera capable cellphone and those cheap disposable type that you take pictures with and and later drop off at photo shops to have your pictures developed/printed, to name a few. Oh, make it 3. Since coolers and picnic baskets are not allowed at that venue, according to their rules, prepare to pay higher prices for drinks and foods, bottled water included, than you would outside the venue (you may not be allowed to bring individual beverage or snacks inside the venue either).

I think their rules page is pretty much self explanatory, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. It will also be helpful for you to make a call to the venue if there's anything else you need to know, like, where and what time you'll need to pick up your ticket(s) and the parking arrangements. Lastly, make sure to head to the venue at least an hour early so you don't get stuck in traffic and or long line of cars going to the venue's parking lot and not be able to get a good parking spot or, worse, miss part of the show (these both has happened to my family and I). I hope this helps.

Enjoy the Alan's concert and have loads of fun. Do let us know here how it went.

45  General Category / Alan Music Discussion / AJ: 2018 SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE on: February 06, 2018, 09:58:50 pm
CONGRATS, ALAN! You are, no doubt, very well deserving of this honor. And what an honor it is to be inducted in this Hall Of Fame along with Bill Anderson. Keep your great music coming!

As posted at the homepage, Alan is one of the inductees at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame this year. I'm so happy for him FINALLY receiving this honor. I'm still miffed at them choosing Garth Brooks over Alan when they inducted him in 2011. According to the article, to qualify to be inducted at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame a songwriter must be a published songwriter for 20 years with a notable catalog of hit songs. GB may have had a catalog of hit songs, but, he definitely did not write his own songs and at that time have only co-wrote a couple that I'm aware of. Further more, he was not even in the business for the full 20 years required. He retired in 2000 after having been in the industry for 10 years, so just how did he qualify then? You all figure it out.
